  • Hello God's own
Good morning. It has pleased the Lord we meet again. Just to encourage someone today, it could be you to keep holding onto Jesus. No situation is permanent. This too will surely pass

A New Name, A New Identity

    Scripture

    > “And He said, ‘Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.’”
    — Genesis 32:28 (NKJV)

    “Wrestled and Changed”

Jacob was known as a deceiver, a man who had gained through manipulation and cunning. But in Genesis 32, everything changes. Alone and afraid of what might happen when he faces his brother Esau, Jacob has a nighttime encounter with God Himself.

He wrestles—not just physically, but spiritually. In that struggle, he refuses to let go until God blesses him. And God does bless him—but not before changing his name, his identity, and his story.

    > “Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel…”

    Jacob means heel-grabber or supplanter.

Israel means he who strives with God or God prevails.also known as governed by God.

This verse is a reminder that:

God doesn’t just change our path—He changes who we are.

    Struggles can lead to transformation.

God gives new names to those who truly seek Him.

Jacob came into that night as a man with a history. He left it as a man with a destiny.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Am I holding on to an old identity that God wants to change?

    2. What spiritual struggle or season has shaped me more deeply?

    3. Do I believe God is able to transform me—not just my situation?

    Prayer

Father God, thank You for loving me enough to wrestle with me, shape me, and change me. I don’t want to walk in an old identity when You’re calling me into something greater. Rename me, reframe me, and use even my struggles to transform me. I want to be known as someone who seeks You and walks with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Proverbs 19:3
When a man's folly brings him to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord.

Often times, the difficulties and problems we encounter are a result of our bad choices but we would hesitate to ask God why, if He really cares about us and our loved ones. Today I urge you to look back within and ask yourself genuine questions.
When you get the answers, repent from cursing God for your misfortunes.
    Shalom

Many are the plans in the mind of a man but it is the purpose of the lord that will stand _Proverbs 19:21

We will always make plans as humans but synching them in the will and purpose of God for our lives will ensure we're on track and not just wasting time, resources and money.
    God bless you
