Taking down a lot more of the trees that weren't destroyed by the tornado we had about a month ago! By His grace once again we didn't have any damage! A few days without the internet! A lot of reading! going on! To see the community come together and reach out and help those in need is awesome!! It reminds me of Luke 12:48! May God Bless you and yours today! Tim

  • Hello, family, friends , brothers, and sisters in the faith.

    This is Brother Johnny Gass.

    Today's short sermon is entitled:
    Daily walk.

Please share this with your friends and family.

In biblical times as you know, there were no cars for transportation, so if one was invited to a friend's home for a meal and fellowship, one would have to walk to the location of the invitation.

In those days and in that region, people either wore sandals or went barefoot.

Now, the guest would bathe and dress for the occasion, and then walk to his friend's house. Now remember roads were not paved at that time, and there were a lot of animals, such as sheep, donkeys, oxen, and maybe even a few camels, that were on the same roads, so as you can imagine there was a lot of dung on the road also.

Not to forget that the road itself was a dirt road, so the feet and the sandals could get quite dirty on the way.

In Jewish custom, it was normal to wash one's feet when they arrived at the invitation location. It was a sign of hospitality and honor, especially if the guest was of high status.

The head of the house would often order a servant to fetch water, for the guests to wash their feet, or the servant or the wife of the house would wash their feet.

By doing this, it would remove the dirt and the dust from the feet and keep it from getting in the house.

Now remember, the guest had bathed before, so he was clean, but he picked up some dirt on his feet during his daily walk.

Just as in our daily Walk With Jesus Christ, we may have committed some unintentional sins, ( just like getting dirt on the feet), but unintentional sin is still sin.

So, we must be cleansed from this through daily confession and forgiveness.

Then He said to them that if anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Luke 9:23 NKJV.

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous. 1 John 2:1 NKJV.

Take up his cross daily, or as it is written in some translations, it reads, die to self daily.

This is where obedience comes into our faith in Christ. It is our responsibility and privilege to confess that we are sinners and to ask God to forgive us for our sins committed daily and our inherited sinful nature.

Christ is more than happy to hear us, and forgive and cleanse us if we confess our sins.

He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all in righteousness. 1 John 1:9 NKJV.

I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities, by which they have sinned, and by which they have transgressed against me. Jeremiah 33:8 NKJV.

After we have accepted Jesus as our savior, we are to exercise our faith daily, through humble confession, which keeps us clean from sin, and His indwelling Holy Spirit will lead us to see our sins, and press upon us the need to confess, repent, and be forgiven.

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You now to confess that I have sinned, and I now turn away from those sins, and ask that You forgive me of my sins, and cleanse me as I go through my daily walk with you.

Make me aware of any sin that I may commit so that I can make confession and ask for your forgiveness.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me and keeping my life for you clean.
    In Jesus' name. Amen.
