In continuation...what stood out to me was "who you spend with is seen in your personality". I am known to be "introvert" my whole life. It came across to others as boring, quiet, judgemental, secretive, shy, high-headed and the list goes on. In expression, I just not a talkative person. It sometimes bothers me for not being accepted nor understood for who I am leading to be judged. Reason being throughout elementary to high school years being picked on, bullied and no genuine friendships (still struggles to have any). As much I came to acceptance of reality that "Not what people say about me but God". He only have that right "for me".
These are 5 bible verses that spoke to me about an introverted temperament and how God can use it:
- Mark 1:35 (NIV)
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
Meaning: Solitude can nourish our relationship with the Father.
- Luke 5:16 (NIV)
“Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
Meaning: Quiet time is a pattern for drawing near to God.
- Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful.”
Meaning: You’re joyfully and purposefully made, including your introverted nature.
- Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Meaning: Stillness can be a sacred space to hear Him.
- James 1:19 (NIV)
“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”
Meaning: Listening and thoughtful speech are valuable gifts.
Reflection: Your quiet, reflective posture can be a strength in prayer, study, and listening to others.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for making me with a thoughtful heart. Help me see introversion as a gift that draws me closer to You. Strengthen me, guide me to rest when needed, and use my quiet talents to bless others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
