DAY 13 β Morning
Theme: SERVING THROUGH CARE AND SUPPORT: Learning To Serve One Another Through Listening Understanding Encouragement and Practical Support.
Reflection
SERVE WITHOUT BEING ASKED
Good morning,
A marriage becomes more peaceful when both partners learn to recognize needs and take responsibility without waiting for instructions.
Imagine a wife who has been preparing supper while attending to the children. Her husband notices the dishes piling up, the children needing attention, and her tired expression. Instead of waiting for her to ask for help, he steps in.
Likewise, a husband who has been working hard may return home to several responsibilities. His wife notices his exhaustion and helps him settle down while they discuss what remains to be done.
These actions are not about keeping traditional score or assigning all responsibilities according to gender. They are about two people learning to pay attention and share the work of building a home.
Love that notices becomes love that acts.
God's Word
Philippians 2:4: "Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others."
Today's Love Action
Identify one responsibility your spouse usually handles. Take the initiative to help with it today without waiting to be asked.
It could be preparing a meal, helping the children with homework, running an errand, or taking care of a task that has been delayed.
Let's Talk
What responsibilities do we sometimes overlook because we have become accustomed to our spouse handling them?
Prayer
Father, open our eyes to the needs around us. Remove selfishness and carelessness from our hearts. Help us to take initiative, share responsibilities fairly, and serve one another with joy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
From The Counselor's Chair
When one spouse must continually identify, explain, assign, and supervise every household responsibility, that spouse may become exhausted. Healthy partnership involves learning to notice what needs attention and taking responsibility together.
Marriage Nugget
"Love does not only respond to requests; it learns to notice needs."
Remember: In marriage, love becomes powerful when it is expressed through humble, consistent and joyful service.
