• Let's talk about it.
Peter’s Vision & God’s Dietary Laws: How Could the Churches Get This So Wrong?

There's a teaching in Christianity that totally contradicts what scripture itself says. It is more than just taking it out of context. They teach that when a sheet full of all kinds of animals came down from heaven and a voice told Peter to kill and eat, the ancient dietary laws were thrown out right then and there. According to the Church, the line between clean and unclean animals was erased, making all meat ok to eat. This is taught so much that people don't even question it. But Peter himself tells exactly what the vision meant, and his answer has nothing to do with food.

Long before Peter ever goes up on that roof to pray, it starts back in Caesarea with a man named Cornelius. Acts 10:1-2 introduces him as a Roman centurion, a devout man who feared God with his whole house, gave generously to the needy, and prayed to God all the time. The entire chapter is deliberately set up around this Gentile from the very first verse. This tells us the vision Peter has a little later wasn't random. Heaven is already moving to reconnect two worlds, and the focus is already on a non-Jewish believer.

While Cornelius's men were on the way, Peter went up on the housetop to pray around the sixth hour, and while they were preparing the meal, he became hungry and wanted to eat. Falling into a trance, he sees a great sheet come down filled with all kinds of four-footed animals, crawling things, and birds. In Acts 10:14, when the voice tells him to rise, kill, and eat, Peter refuses, saying, "Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean." Even with hunger pressing on him and a voice from heaven speaking directly to him three times, the man who is supposedly getting permission to eat whatever he wants still refuses to touch what God called unclean. If the dietary laws were being thrown out, this was the perfect moment for him to give in, but he treats the levitical dietary instructions as binding and never gives in.

After the vision Peter was confused about what it meant. He couldn't figure it out. But when the men sent by Cornelius show up at the gate, the Spirit speaks to Peter, telling him to go down and go with them without hesitating, because God sent them. The arrival of these Gentile visitors matches the timing of the vision on purpose. The Spirit intentionally links the unclean animals in the sheet with the "unclean" Gentiles standing at the gate.

When Peter gets to Cornelius's house, he finally explains the true meaning of the vision in his own words. Talking to the crowd gathered there in Acts 10:28, Peter said to them, "You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean." This ties the whole account together. Peter doesn't say God showed him it's okay to eat pork and shellfish; he says straight out that God showed him not to call any human being unclean. Peter doesn't stop there. He keeps going in 34-35, saying, "Truly I perceive that God doesn't show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him." This is Peter telling us in his own words what the vision was about. It wasn't about animals being acceptable to eat.

It was about people from every nation being acceptable to God. It is worth noting what kind of law Peter is talking about. When he calls it unlawful for a Jew to associate with a foreigner, he is not referring to anything written in the Torah. Nowhere in the Law of God did He ever forbid His people from entering the home of a Gentile or sharing a meal with one. This was a man-made tradition built up over centuries, an extra-biblical command. So the wall the vision tears down was never a wall God put up in the first place.

This explanation is reiterated in the very next chapter. When Peter goes back to Jerusalem in 11:1-3, the circumcision party confronts him, wanting to know why he went to uncircumcised men and ate with them. Peter responds by telling the whole story of the vision from start to finish, landing on the same conclusion. When the believers in Jerusalem hear this in 11:18, they glorify God, realizing that God has also granted the Gentiles repentance.

Two times the vision is explained in the text, and both times the conclusion is strictly about including the Gentiles. On top of that, the Jerusalem believers don't raise a single question or objection about food, proving they understood the matter was about fellowship with people as well.

Looking closely at the story makes it clear what the vision did and didn't change. It changed who Peter could walk into a house with, sit next to, and share a meal with, breaking down centuries of unbiblical man-made tradition. It did not change what YHVH defined as food in Leviticus 11. Years after this happened, the book of Acts still shows the believers keeping the Torah.

The foundation of clean and unclean animals goes back before the covenant at Sinai. We see this in Genesis 7:2 when God tells Noah, "You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female." Notice that no explanation is given to Noah at all. God speaks of clean and unclean animals as something Noah already understood, generations before Sinai and long before Israel existed as a nation. People often try to claim this difference was only for sacrificial purposes, but the text never states that.

Jesus says in Matthew 5:18, "For faithfully I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the Law, until all things are accomplished." As far as I can tell, heaven and earth are still here.

This is one of those things that honestly blows me away, how and why can Christians continue to defiantly and blindly say that the text means something other than what it plainly says?

Ultimately, the vision given to Peter was not a cancellation of God's instructions, but a powerful confirmation of His inclusive truth for all people

  • continuation chapter two 2.1
Today, let us talk about the gritty, determined, thoroughly human work that is required to be free from sin. On the path to perfection, there are roles to play. God's grace is the wind—a magnificent, roaring, endless gale of generosity, a hurricane of holy help. But we, my friend, must raise the sail. And raising a sail is not done by sitting in the hull, thinking positive thoughts about wind, and declaring, "I am a sail-raiser in Jesus' name!" It involves pulling ropes, untying knots, climbing masts, and probably getting a splinter or two in places you'd rather not mention. It involves calluses, not cushions. The sailor who refuses to touch the ropes but insists he's "trusting the wind" will stay in the harbor forever, growing barnacles on his bottom, and eventually becoming a tourist attraction: "Come see the Man of Faith, who believed so hard the boat hasn't moved in forty years."

‎Let me paint you a simple picture, so absurd that its truth will be unavoidable. It's like a parable, but with more malaria.

‎Imagine a man struck down by a severe case of malaria. His body is a furnace; his joints ache as if he's been tenderized with a mallet wielded by a very enthusiastic chef. He prays to God for healing. "Lord, with all my faith, I believe You will heal me!" he cries from his sweat-drenched bed, voice cracking with the kind of sincerity that makes angels pause and take notes. Then, the doctor arrives—a miracle in itself, a human being trained by human knowledge, arriving on time—and places the anti-malarial tablets on the bedside table. Little white pills of possibility. And the man refuses them. He waves a feverish, trembling hand and says, "No, no, take those abominations away. If I take the medicine, I'm not trusting God completely. That would be putting my faith in pharmaceuticals, not in the Almighty. My faith alone is enough. I'm just going to rest in the finished work of the cinchona tree. I'm going to 'stand on the Word'... from a horizontal position... while hallucinating from the fever." And he rolls over, shivering, smiling the smile of the profoundly deluded, the smile of a man who has confused stubbornness with sanctification.

‎Now, tell me, what will become of that man? We all know the tragic punchline. His faith will be sincere. His prayers will be genuine. His theological position on divine healing will be impeccably orthodox, with all the right Greek words footnoted. And his funeral will be well-attended, with people standing around the casket whispering, "He's in a better place now," which is true, but he could have been in a better place here, too, namely alive and swallowing tablets. God, in His extravagant wisdom, provided the healing agent within the bark of that tree, hidden away for centuries like a love letter waiting to be opened by a scientist with a microscope. Grace grew the tree in some distant jungle. Grace guided the chemist who isolated the compound. Grace mixed the ingredients into a stable pill. Grace delivered the tablet to a pharmacy near you, probably via a truck driver named Grace, who was listening to Amazing Grace on the radio. But the man has a critical, indispensable role: he must rise from his bed—however feebly, however dramatically—pour a glass of water, lift the tablet to his lips, and swallow. Without that tiny, trembling act of human cooperation, the prayer, however beautiful, however poetic, however theologically sound and beautifully alliterated, ends in a coffin. Healing requires a partnership, a duet, not a solo performance with God as the backing track and man as the passive audience member waving a lighter.

‎The struggle with sin operates on this very same divine principle. We pray, with great passion, with the kind of fervor that makes our prayer partners slightly uncomfortable, "Deliver me from this anger! Free me from this lust! Pry this greed from my cold, clutching fingers! Break the chains, Lord, break every fetter!" And then, having prayed, having exhausted ourselves with holy vocabulary, we lie back on the spiritual mattress and wait for the lightning bolt. We fold our hands over our chests like a corpse in training. But the prayer is the diagnosis, not the prescription. It's the X-ray, not the surgery. We must then pick up the "anti-malarial tablets" for the soul. The prayer opened the pharmacy; now you have to swallow the medicine. But we'd rather have the prayer than the pill, because the prayer feels spiritual and dramatic, while the pill just feels like hard work and you have to remember to take it three times a day with meals.

‎Now, what on earth are those tablets? Let me show you through another picture, because I'm in a parabolic mood and the paint is still wet.

‎You can own a library that groans under the weight of books on hydrodynamics. You can fill entire shelves with volumes on the physics of floating, the history of the backstroke, the biographies of Olympic champions. You can memorize the chemical composition of chlorine and write a doctoral thesis titled "The Ontological Significance of Buoyancy: A Theological and Biomechanical Analysis of Not Sinking." Your thesis can be peer-reviewed by the top swimming theologians of our time. You can attend lectures given by the world's greatest swimmers, sitting in the front row, nodding along to their PowerPoint presentations on breathing technique and the proper angle of hand entry. You can even acquire a certificate of swimming theory, beautifully framed in gold leaf, stating that you have believed in the principles of buoyancy with your whole heart and have successfully completed 120 credit hours of thinking about water. You can wear a T-shirt that says "I'm a Swimmer" with a little fish symbol. But the moment a mischievous friend—or an act of God, or a slippery pool deck—throws you into the deep end, that theoretical knowledge becomes spectacularly, hilariously useless. The books won't inflate and save you. The diploma is not a flotation device. The framed certificate will not turn into a life preserver and gently cradle you to safety. There is one thing, and one thing alone, that bridges the chasm between theory and survival: you must get in the water. You must flail, swallow a horrifying amount of chlorinated liquid, come up spluttering and embarrassed with your dignity floating somewhere near the diving board, and practice the strokes yourself. Again and again and again. The knowledge of swimming has never mastered a single stroke for a single human being. It has never pulled anyone to the side of the pool. It just sits there in the books, looking profound and smelling faintly of mildew, while the drowning man sinks to the bottom, his head full of elegant theories about the physics of arm rotation.
continuation chapter two 2.1 Today, let us talk about the gritty, determined, thoroughly human work that is required to be free from sin. The sailor who refuses to touch the ropes but insists he's "trusting the wind" will stay in the harbor forever, growing barnacles on his bottom, and eventually becoming a tourist attraction: "Come see the Man of Faith, who believed so hard the boat hasn't moved in forty years." ‎ ‎Let me paint you a simple picture, so absurd that its truth will be unavoidable. It's like a parable, but with more malaria. ‎ ‎Imagine a man struck down by a severe case of malaria. ‎ ‎Now, tell me, what will become of that man? ‎ ‎The struggle with sin operates on this very same divine principle. • Arguments of backsliders and John Wesley’s Answers from his sermon “ A Call to Backsliders”

"Will the Lord absent himself for ever And will he be no more entreated Is his mercy clean gone for ever And is his promise come utterly to an end for evermore" Ps. 77:7, 8.

So many backsliders think that God hath forgotten to be gracious.

    1. The first argument which induces many backsliders to believe that "the Lord will be no more entreated," is drawn from the very reason of the thing: "If," say they, "a man rebel against an earthly prince, many times he dies for the first offence; he pays his life for the first transgression. Yet, possibly, if the crime be extenuated by some favourable circumstance, or if strong intercession be made for him, his life may be given him. But if, after a full and free pardon he were guilty of rebelling a second time, who would dare to intercede for him He must expect no farther mercy. Now, if one rebelling against an earthly king, after he has been freely pardoned once, cannot with any colour of reason hope to be forgiven a second time; what must be the case of him that, after having been freely pardoned for rebelling against the great King of heaven and earth, rebels against him again What can be expected, but that `vengeance will come upon him to the uttermost'"

"Unto whom will ye liken me, saith the Lord" "I am God, and not man, therefore the house of Israel is not consumed." Because he is God, and not man, "therefore his compassions fail not." None then can infer, that because an earthly king will not pardon one that rebels against him a second time, therefore the King of heaven will not. Yea, he will; not until seven times only, or until seventy times seven. Nay, were your rebellions multiplied as the stars of heaven; were they more in number than the hairs of your head; yet "return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon you; and to our God, and he will abundantly pardon."

    2. "If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and God shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death. I do not say that he shall pray for it." 1 John 5:16
(A sin unto death: a sin that God has determined to punish with death)

I see no absurdity at all in this interpretation of the word. It seems to be one meaning (at least) of the expression, "a sin unto death;" a sin which God has determined to punish by the death of the sinner. If, therefore, you have sinned a sin of this kind, and your sin has overtaken you; if God is chastising you by some severe disease, it will not avail to pray for your life; you are irrevocably sentenced to die. But observe! This has no reference to eternal death. It does by no means imply that you are condemned to die the second death. No; it rather implies the contrary: The body is destroyed, that the soul may escape destruction. I have myself, during the course of many years, seen numerous instances of this. I have known many sinners (chiefly notorious backsliders from high degrees of holiness, and such as had given great occasion to the enemies of religion to blaspheme) whom God has cut short in the midst of their journey; yea, before they had lived out half their days: These, I apprehend, had sinned "a sin unto death;" in consequence of which they were cut off, sometimes more swiftly, sometimes more slowly, by an unexpected stroke. But in most of these cases it has been observed that "mercy rejoiced over judgment." And the persons themselves were fully convinced of the goodness as well as justice of God. They acknowledged that he destroyed the body in order to save the soul. Before they went hence, he healed their backsliding. So they died that they might live for ever.

A very remarkable instance of this occurred many years ago. young collier [coal miner] in Kingswood, near Bristol, was an eminent sinner, and afterwards an eminent saint. But, by little and little, he renewed his acquaintance with his old companions, who by degrees wrought upon him, till he dropped all his religion, and was two-fold more a child of hell than before. One day he was working in the pit with a serious young man, who suddenly stopped and cried out, "O Tommy, what a man was you once! How did your words and example provoke many to love and to good works! And what are you now What would become of you, if you were to die as you are" "Nay, God forbid," said Thomas, "for then I should fall into hell headlong! O let us cry to God!" They did so for a considerable time, first the one, and then the other. They called upon God with strong cries and tears, wrestling with him in mighty prayer. After some time, Thomas broke out, "Now I know God hath healed my backsliding. I know again, that my Redeemer liveth, and that he hath washed me from my sins with his own blood. I am willing to go to him." Instantly part of the pit calved in, and crushed him to death in a moment. Whoever thou art that hast sinned "a sin unto death," lay this to heart! It may be, God will require thy soul of thee in an hour when thou lookest not for it! But if he doth, there is mercy in the midst of judgment: Thou shalt not die eternally.

    To be concluded

“𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘺,
𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘥𝘢𝘺.”

Have you ever wondered why you’re still struggling despite answered prayers? We celebrate victories but still face old habits, fears, and weaknesses. It’s easy to feel discouraged when we expect to be further along. Whether battling sin, enduring trials, or learning obedience, the real question is not if you’re a finished believer, but if you trust the God who never leaves His work unfinished.

🕮 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏:𝟔 declares, “𝘉𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘯 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵.” Paul reminds believers that salvation is not a project they started—it is a work God began. The same God who saves also sanctifies. He never abandons what His hands have begun.

A master sculptor does not discard the marble because it still looks rough. With every careful strike of the chisel, the masterpiece becomes clearer. The stone may not understand the process, but the sculptor already sees the finished work. In the same way, God is shaping His children into the likeness of Christ, one faithful stroke at a time.

Scripture continually assures us of God’s transforming work. “𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭... 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺” (𝟐 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟑:𝟏𝟖). “𝘞𝘩𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘩” (𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟏𝟐:𝟔). Even our failures become lessons in His hands when they lead us to repentance and greater dependence upon Him. God is never absent while His people are growing.

Too often we judge God's work by today's progress instead of His eternal purpose. We become impatient with ourselves while God remains patient with us. “𝘈 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶” (𝐄𝐳𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝟑𝟔:𝟐𝟔). Don't live like a builder abandoning the house because the walls are not yet painted. Construction is not failure—it is proof that the work is still in progress. God's delays are never His abandonment.

Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of our faith (𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟏𝟐:𝟐). The One who called fishermen, restored Peter after his denial, and transformed Saul into Paul is still changing lives today. The Christ who finished the work of redemption at Calvary is faithfully completing His work in every believer until the day we stand before Him.

What part of your life has made you feel like giving up? Where have you mistaken slow growth for no growth? You don't need Christ merely to start your life—you need Him because He is the Finisher. Don't quit while God is still working. You're not reading the final chapter yet. The story isn't over because the Master is still writing it.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Heavenly Father, we confess that we have doubted Your willingness to finish what You started. Forgive us for looking at our failures and assuming You have given up. Remind us that You are faithful—and You always finish what You begin. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Remember, a dose of God’s Word a day will keep you going all day!

  • Some people come to Christ as children.
Others return after wandering for years.
And some spend almost an entire lifetime searching before finally surrendering.
That was the story of Bill Hayden.
The former Governor-General of Australia, who publicly identified as an atheist for most of his life, surprised many when he was baptized into the Catholic Church at the age of 85.
Reflecting on his decision, Hayden admitted he had lived with what he described as a "gnawing pain" about the meaning of life.
Then he said something that has echoed far beyond Australia.
    "This took too long."
Those four words carry a profound reminder.
It is never too late to seek God.
Hayden explained that his journey was shaped not by one dramatic moment, but by years of observing the quiet faithfulness of Christians whose compassion left a lasting impression on him. A serious stroke in 2014 also gave him time to reflect on life, mortality, and eternity.
He later said he realized there was "more to life than just me."
He felt called to dedicate himself to God and to live for the good of others.
The priest who baptized Hayden shared that the former politician had reached a point where he could no longer deny the reality of God.
One encounter especially stayed with him.
While visiting Sister Angela Mary Doyle, a Catholic nun widely known for decades of serving the poor, Hayden said he woke the next morning convinced he had been in the presence of a holy woman. Her humble life of love and service pointed him back toward the faith he had resisted for so long.
It is a powerful reminder that our witness often speaks loudest not through arguments, but through lives transformed by Christ.
This story is also a gentle encouragement for everyone praying for a loved one who seems far from God.
    Do not lose hope.
Some seeds take years to grow.
Some prayers are answered after decades.
Only God knows what He is doing in a person's heart.
Bill Hayden passed away in 2025, but his testimony continues to remind people that God's grace is patient.
Jesus said, "The one who comes to Me I will never cast out." John 6:37.
    No one is too intellectual.
    No one is too skeptical.
    No one is too old.
As long as there is breath, there is hope.
If you have been praying for a parent, a spouse, a child, or a friend who has spent years rejecting God, keep praying.
The Lord is still drawing people to Himself.
And sometimes, the greatest miracle is not how quickly someone comes to faith.
It is that they come to Christ at all.

  • We who are strong and healthy, do not know what it takes for the sick and those going through challenges to be praising and worshipping beyond their pain.

The level they touch and the depth of their worship is such we have not entered!!! Their faith and trust is so much greater than those of us leading in praise and worship!!!

This was what God showed me as I was worshipping together with my wife who had a stroke, heart condition and going through aches and pains, reflux and gastro condition and in great discomfort. This was what the Lord said to me!!! The depth of wifey's praise and worship was much higher than mine!!! Wifey's worship has gone further, faster and deeper than mine!!! That's what the Lord told me!!!

  • A call to prayer from a former Bible school teacher and brother in Christ for his wife's health and their living arrangements. Their adult son has also been ill.

    Update:

Sandi will be having some important tests done tomorrow morning that have a certain amount of risk. She will be having a Synchronized Cardioversion procedure. Cardioversion is a procedure used to reset an irregular or fast heartbeat (arrhythmia) back to a normal, steady rhythm. It is an attempt to bring her out of a-fib, as the medications have been unsuccessful.

There are some risks due to her heart being over strained in a-fib for so long, with her heart racing on average 170. Her blood pressure has spiked higher, the overall health effects of the diabetes, her age and the stroke that she had. She also has pneumonia.

I wanted to share this as so many of you have been praying for our family for some time now. We have been so very grateful for your love, prayers, encouragement, friendship and support during this long journey. We have certainly witnessed some true miracles along the way together.

She has a * Do Not Resuscitate * order in place, with a blue band on her wrist. I hope to be there in the morning. Ryan is still not doing very well at the present time. He won’t be well enough to come with me tomorrow morning. Prayers appreciated.

Our landlord wants us out by July 7th. Two days. We have not found a place yet, and are short on funds. We are completely in God’s hands, and we are trusting him for his will to be done for his glory in the morning. Sandi asked me to share this with you:

“Dear friends and family. I love you so much. The Lord Jesus is with me and my heart is full to the brim with peace. I am ready to stay or to go on to be with the Lord. He is my beloved King. It has been a long long path that we have been on. To God be the glory, great things he has done and is continuing to do. God bless.”

I had recorded the video, “I can only Imagine.” We sat as close as we could and I held her hand and we watched with tears, while resting in the blessed assurance of the hope of Glory.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13).

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (I Peter 1:3).
