Husband to Thaís and father to Sofia, Joaquim, Rute, and Aurora. I am a Nazarene pastor on a mission in the Brazilian Sertão, working with four of the most unreached ethnic groups in our country. Our family’s heart is to make the name of Jesus famous and advance His Kingdom. If you feel led, you can help us go even further.

  • *Living worried is thinking that God will fail.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
    Philippians 4:6

Dear, brothers and sisters, let us think together: how many times has our precious Savior failed to care for us?

It is quite true that we have already gone through times of adversity, long deserts and deep valleys, but in all things, God has cared for us. And if He has not abandoned us until today, what makes us think that He will act that way from now on? Is our God a God of double-mindedness? Is He perhaps a man who says something today and then immediately regrets it?

It is interesting how short our spiritual memory is. God's people had crossed the sea, but soon doubted that the Lord would quench their thirst. But the God who cared for us in yesterday's desert is the same God who is with us in today's valley. The Word of God says that He "is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent." He promised to care for us, and the validity of His promises does not expire.

May we, on this Monday night, have in our hearts the firm conviction that the Lord knows each of our needs and cares for us. His Word invites us to abandon anxiety about tomorrow. "Do not be anxious," says the Lord, for anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but prevents us from living fully today. Trust in the Lord. He is faithful.
