Scripture
Leviticus 10:2 (NKJV)
So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.
Strange Fire Before God
In this passage, Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded. Their irreverence and disobedience cost them their lives. This account shows the seriousness of approaching God on our own terms rather than His.
For believers today, this reminds us that worship must be rooted in reverence and obedience. God is holy, and He calls us to honor Him in the way He has revealed. Through Christ, we now have access to God’s presence, but that access does not lessen His holiness. Instead, it increases our responsibility to worship Him in spirit and truth.
This verse challenges us to examine whether our worship flows from obedience to God’s Word or from personal preference. True worship honors God’s holiness and reflects His will.
Reflection Questions
1. Do I approach God in worship with reverence and obedience, or casually and on my own terms?
2. How can I ensure my worship is rooted in His Word and Spirit rather than in personal preference?
3. What does it mean for me to worship in spirit and truth today?
Prayer
Lord God, teach me to worship You with reverence and obedience. Guard me from offering what is careless or self-centered. Help me to honor Your holiness in my worship, my words, and my life. Thank You for the access I have through Jesus Christ, my High Priest. In His name I pray, Amen..0 Comments 0 Shares 12 Views -
