  • Easter Sunday, a day where children excitedly run around looking for chocolate eggs, whilst the adults relax and spend time with family. Braais will be lit and the day spent relaxing. But, there is so much more to this day.
This is the day where we remember Christ's rising from the tomb, conquering death and giving us a hope of eternity in the presence of God the Father.

As we look around us at a world in apparent chaos, we are challenged to either seclude ourselves or live as Christ instructed in His final commission. He did not die so that we could sit quietly to the side and watch the world implode. He died so that all of mankind would have a way back to the Father.
Here is South Africa, two things are happening simultaneously that should cause us to sit up and take note. The state is attempting to legislate our faith, deciding who will be able to say what. Secondly, they are also attempting to control freedom of speech through legislated control of what we can say online. As a Christian in South Africa, the time is coming very quickly where we will be sanctioned for our faith, and now is the time to stand up and decide where we stand. We can not afford to stay quiet until legislation attempts to muffle the message of Christ. We need to shore up our belief structures and open our mouths whilst we can still openly declare the Word of God. This will strengthen our resolve when times of sanction come.
We can no longer stay quiet for fear of offending. Offense is an emotion, and we are no more responsible for causing offense than we are happiness. Each person is responsible for their own emotions. We are however responsible for speaking truth.
The truth that all of mankind is sinful and falls short of the glory of God.
The truth that the wages of sin is death.
The truth that a faith in and commitment to Jesus Christ is the only way that we can come to the father.
The truth that Jesus died for our sins, giving us the most amazing gift. A hope of glory and reconciliation with God the Father.
The truth that we need to confess our sins, repent and be baptized into His family.
The truth that Jesus reigns on High, and that He will return to reign on Earth.
The truth that Satan and his cohorts will do anything and everything to keep these truths from us, preventing us from entering into the rest that Christ gives.
The truth that Jesus will be victorious over all evil, will reign forever and has made a place for all who follow Him, in heaven for all eternity.
The truth that nothing we can do will earn our spot in heaven, rather, it is His sacrifice that purchaces our redemption. Only by accepting Him as our personal saviour, repenting from our sin and being born again in spirit will we be able to stand before Him in glory one day.

Today is all about the truth.
    Jesus has risen conquering sin
Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father
Jesus will return to redeem us to Himself
Jesus will defeat Satan and all his allies
    Jesus will reign forever.

Time to stand on the Truth.
