I believe that the fundamental reason most Christians struggle with personal prayer is because they don't have a 'strong enough why' to galvanize them into their prayer altar.

If you where David, a fugitive; constantly running for his dear life, you won't toy with your prayer altar.

If you where a Hannah, who who needed a child badly, you won't play with the prayer altar at Shiloh!

If you where one of early apostles whose lives were under constant fatal threats, you'd treat your prayer altar with the commitment it deserves.

Folks, find your 'strong why' and a new gust will rush into your momentum for robust and fire-filled personal prayer life!
