  • PROVERB OF THE DAY

    (PROVERBS 31)

    1. The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him:

    2. What, my son?
    And what, son of my womb?
    And what, son of my vows?

    3. Do not give your strength to women,
    Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

    4. It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
    It is not for kings to drink wine,
    Nor for princes intoxicating drink;

    5. Lest they drink and forget the law,
    And pervert the justice of all the afflicted.

    6. Give strong drink to him who is perishing,
    And wine to those who are bitter of heart.

    7. Let him drink and forget his poverty,
    And remember his misery no more.

    8. Open your mouth for the speechless,
    In the cause of all who are appointed to die.

    9. Open your mouth, judge righteously,
    And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

    10. Who can find a virtuous wife?
    For her worth is far above rubies.

    11. The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
    So he will have no lack of gain.

    12. She does him good and not evil
    All the days of her life.

    13. She seeks wool and flax,
    And willingly works with her hands.

    14. She is like the merchant ships,
    She brings her food from afar.

    15. She also rises while it is yet night,
    And provides food for her household,
    And a portion for her maidservants.

    16. She considers a field and buys it;
    From her profits she plants a vineyard.

    17. She girds herself with strength,
    And strengthens her arms.

    18. She perceives that her merchandise is good,
    And her lamp does not go out by night.

    19. She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
    And her hand holds the spindle.

    20. She extends her hand to the poor,
    Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

    21. She is not afraid of snow for her household,
    For all her household is clothed with scarlet.

    22. She makes tapestry for herself;
    Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

    23. Her husband is known in the gates,
    When he sits among the elders of the land.

    24. She makes linen garments and sells them,
    And supplies sashes for the merchants.

    25. Strength and honor are her clothing;
    She shall rejoice in time to come.

    26. She opens her mouth with wisdom,
    And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

    27. She watches over the ways of her household,
    And does not eat the bread of idleness.

    28. Her children rise up and call her blessed;
    Her husband also, and he praises her:

    29“Many daughters have done well,
    But you excel them all.”

    30. Charm is
    deceitful and beauty is passing,
    But a woman who
    fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

    31. Give her of the fruit of her hands,
    And let her own works praise her in the gates.

    [1] As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. [2] And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. [3] But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. [4] We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. [5] May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

  • John 3:1-21 NIV
    [1] Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. [2] He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” [3] Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” [4] “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” [5] Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. [6] Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. [7] You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ [8] The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” [9] “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked. [10] “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? [11] Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. [12] I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? [13] No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. [14] Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, [15] that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” [16] For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. [18] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. [19] This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. [20] Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. [21] But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
