From Earthly to Heavenly: God's Plan of Restoration
In the beginning, God created Adam in His own image and likeness (Genesis 1:27). Adam enjoyed perfect fellowship with God and lived in purity, righteousness, and glory. However, when sin entered the world, human nature became corrupted. Therefore, when Seth was born, the Bible says that he was born in Adam's likeness and image (Genesis 5:3). This means that Seth not only resembled Adam physically but also inherited a human nature affected by sin, weakness, suffering, and death.
Today, all humanity bears this same "earthly image" of Adam. We are mortal, weak, and subject to death. Yet God's plan did not end there. Jesus Christ, the Last Adam, came to bring new life and a new creation. That is why the Apostle Paul writes:
"And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man."
    (1 Corinthians 15:49)
One day, when Christ appears in glory, believers will be transformed—not only spiritually but also physically. What was lost in Adam will be fully restored in Christ. We will be freed from sin, sickness, suffering, and death, and we will share in God's eternal glory.
The message of the Bible is clear: the image of Adam leads to death, but the image of Christ leads to eternal life and glory.
