- A World Moving Farther from God: Are We Nearing the End Times?
As the days go by, we can see how humanity is drifting further from the image of God and closer to worshiping self. This rebellion isn’t just a cultural trend—it’s a spiritual crisis. The more we reject God’s truth, the more we align ourselves with the brokenness of this world. The signs of the End Times are becoming clearer as mankind moves away from worshiping the Creator and toward exalting self.
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy." — 2 Timothy 3:1-2 (NKJV)
At the heart of this is the violation of God’s commandments—the very foundation of our relationship with Him.
The First Commandment: "You shall have no other gods before Me."
In today’s society, we have replaced God with ourselves. Gender identification, self-worship, and prioritizing personal feelings over God’s truth are direct acts of idolatry. By placing ourselves on the throne of our lives, we offend the One who created us in His image.
"Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man." — Romans 1:22-23
The Last Commandment: "You shall not covet."
We live in a culture consumed by comparison, greed, and envy. People covet not only material possessions but even identities that aren’t theirs to claim. Instead of being content in who God created us to be, society glorifies self-reinvention and rejects God’s perfect design.
"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord." — Leviticus
19:28 (NKJV)*
Replacing God with Self
Instead of identifying in Christ, society now encourages people to identify in anything and everything else. Gender identification has become a matter of personal preference rather than God’s creation. Taking personal offense at truth has replaced conviction, and living to avoid offending God has become irrelevant in the eyes of the world.
"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." — Genesis 1:27
When we reject His image, we reject Him. This rebellion against God is not just a cultural problem; it is a spiritual war against His authority and design.
Offense Over Obedience
In a world where personal offense reigns supreme, the truth of God’s Word is seen as hateful rather than life-giving. But Jesus warned us about this:
"And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." — Matthew 24:10-12
What Can We Do?
As believers, we must hold fast to the truth, reflect Christ in our lives, and refuse to conform to the world. It’s a time to worship God fully, placing Him above all else and loving Him with all our heart, soul, and mind.
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." — Romans 12:2
Prayer:
"Lord, forgive us for how far we’ve strayed from You. Help us to reflect Your image in a world that rejects it. Give us the courage to stand for truth, the grace to love boldly, and the wisdom to see the signs of Your return. Transform our hearts to worship You alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
Let’s stay vigilant and encourage one another to reflect Christ, no matter how dark the world becomes. How can we better live for Him in these challenging times?
