Reason 3: Alcohol Betrays

The Pattern -Alcohol promises loyalty: “I’ll make you happy, bold, accepted.” But it’s the first to leave you when trouble comes.

*Across All Stratas:*
*The Student: Friends cheered him while he was buying rounds. When he is sent home because he couldn't pay tuition fee, the very money he used to buy drinks for them, they all vanished.
*The Hustler:* Beer parlor “brothers” drank with him daily. When police came, nobody testified for him.
*The Executive:* Colleagues toasted with him at promotions. When scandal hit, they leaked the story.

Psalm 41:9 — _“Even my close friend… has lifted his heel against me.”_ Alcohol trains you to trust bottles more than people. Then bottles betray you through those same people.

*Why You Must Not Taste It:*
Anything that makes you dependent on it will eventually betray you. God says “I will never leave you.” Alcohol says “I’ll leave you at the hospital gate.” Choose who you trust.

*Reflection:* Who stood by you at your lowest? Was it a bottle or a person.

Reason 2: Alcohol Erodes Moral Discipline*
From a scientific and psychological perspective, alcohol physically alters brain chemistry, which directly impacts a person's ability to maintain self-control. It primarily impairs the prefrontal cortex—the region responsible for exercising discretion, planning, and impulse regulation. This explains why drunk individuals are more likely to break rules or overstep social boundaries.
The Pattern: Alcohol doesn’t make you sin. It removes the brakes that stop you from sinning.
Across All Stratas:
The Student: Before alcohol: “I can’t disappoint my parents.” After 2 bottles: “i have my life to live.”
The Married Man: Before: “I can’t look at another woman.” After: “She’s just a friend, my wife won’t know.”
The Leader: Before: “I can’t lie to clients.” After: “It’s just ‘business strategy.’”

Proverbs 20:1 — “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”

Alcohol mocks your convictions. It turns “I will never” into “Just this once.”

Why You Must Not Taste It:
Moral discipline is like a wall. One brick at a time, it’s built through years. Alcohol is acid — one sip and the wall dissolves instantly. If you never taste it, your “no” stays strong.

Reflection: List 3 moral lines you will never cross. Alcohol wants to erase that list. Don’t let it.

Reason 1: Alcohol Has an Insatiable Taste.

The Pattern: One bottle begs for a second. One second begs for a third.

It never says “enough.” That’s why it’s called addiction, not “addition.”

*The Student:* “Just one bottle for fun” → By 400 level he’s drinking before 12pm to “focus.”
*The Trader:* “Just one to reduce market stress” Now he can’t sell without “taking something.”
*The Executive: “Just wine for networking” Now he needs 3 glasses before he can engage people.

Ecclesiastes 1:8 — “The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.”_ Alcohol works the same way. The taste is never satisfied.

*Why You Must Not Taste It:
The first sip is not about flavor. It’s about training your brain to want more. If you never taste it, the hunger never starts. Prevention is easier than withdrawal.

*Reflection:* Write down: “Alcohol is never satisfied. So I will never start.”

The level of indulgence of youths in alcohol is alarming. I found out that behind the violent crimes taking place across the grobe is substance abuse. it's also proven that all drug abuses begging with one sip of alcohol at some point that draws out ones dopamine.

So this is aimed at addressing the root-cause of all the crimes we a witnessing today.

Alcohol doesn’t ask you your age, sex, tribe or Creed, nor CV before it destroys you. It doesn’t check if you’re poor or rich, student or professor, sinner or pastor’s son.

It only asks one question: “Will you taste me?”

If the answer is “No,” you win.
If the answer is “Just once,” you’re already losing.

These 6 reasons are not opinions. They are meticulously researched patterns. They repeat in hostels, beer parlors, offices, and high tables. Learn them before the cup teaches you by force.
