  • THE WORD OF GOD (PART 2)

    Welcome back beloved.
Today, we shall focus on the inspiration of the Word of God. This is not a dry academic topic; it is the very heartbeat of why we can open our Bibles with trembling confidence and say, “Thus says the Lord.”

The Bible is not a mere collection of wise human writings and as such, not a self-help book. But it is truly inspired (God-breathed); that's why every page carries the very voice of the living God, and is able to make us “wise for salvation” and equip us for every good work.

    What Does “Inspiration” Actually Mean?

The English word “inspire” can mislead us in this regard as it often means “to motivate” or “to stir emotionally.” But the biblical term is far more powerful. In 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Paul declares:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God [Greek: theopneustos] and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Theopneustos literally means “God-breathed” or “exhaled by God.” Scripture is not something God breathed into, rather it is something He breathed out. Just as my words right now are the product of my breath and mind, the Bible is the product of God’s breath and mind, yet miraculously written through human instruments.

“knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1: 20-21)

This refers to the fact that the Word of God did not originate in the human mind. It proclaims the manner in which the word of God was written and thereby given unto us.

Picture a sailing ship: the wind does not destroy the ship’s sails or captain; it fills them and moves the vessel exactly where the wind intends. The human authors were fully conscious, using their vocabularies, personalities, research (as in Luke 1:1–4), and even emotions, yet the Holy Spirit “carried them along” so that the final product was precisely what God wanted. This is called concursive operation; divine and human working together without one overriding the other.

There may be certain questions like the human styles and textual variations of the Bible. Yes, the human style is intentional. Paul will always sound like Paul; John like John. Yet the Spirit superintended so that even their personalities served God’s exact purpose. There may be apparent discrepancies like we have in the Synoptic gospels. Such situations are more of complementary perspectives than contradictions just as four eyewitnesses to a car accident can give different details and, yet one truth.

Notwithstanding the variations, the Bible maintains:
Unity: Imagine 40 authors writing from different locations over 1,500 years, but presenting one coherent redemption story. That is not ordinary.

Power: The word of God convicts, converts, and conforms millions across cultures to the image and intentions of God.

Fulfilled prophecy: The Bible is filled with many specific predictions and fulfilled prophecies as recorded in Micah 5:2, Isaiah 53, etc.

Transformative fruit: No other book has produced the global impact of the Gospel.

Going further, some specific actions are important in relation to the word of God. Because the Bible is God-breathed, you should:

Read it expectantly by seeing yourself as one hearing God’s voice from the written texts.

Obey it confidently. This enables the word to equip you completely.

Defend it lovingly with gentleness and respect, but never apologize for its claims.

The inspiration of the word of God is the trustworthy bridge that brings us to the foundation of Christianity which is Jesus. Remember that Jesus Christ is the central theme of the Bible.

May the same Spirit who carried along the writers now carry you along as you study, so that you become complete, equipped for every good work.

    Let us pray:
Lord, thank You that Your Word is not the product of human will but of Your breath. Open my eyes to behold wondrous things from Your law. Amen.

    God bless you richly!

  • THE WORD OF GOD…..

To my beloved Teenagers, Youths, especially young believers, intending believers and confused believers.

    Are you a believer?
If yes, have you understood what you believe in? Have you understood what the gospel you have believed is in very simple terms or are you as confused as many? Could it also be that you may be intentionally ignorant or simply overzealously religious without accurate knowledge?
Yeah I believe there are other similar questions like the ones above.

I sincerely welcome you as a friend to take this journey with me. I am thrilled to walk you through this foundational steps.

Let's begin with the very core: The Word Of God.

Think of the Word of God not just as a book to be read, but as spiritual food for your soul and a roadmap for your new life. The Word of God is alive, powerful, and the very foundation of our faith.

Jesus Himself said, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4, NIV).

In these few days, we will explore why the Bible is unique, how it works, and how you can let it transform you.

What Is the Word of God?

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:1-3, 14, NIV)

Here, "Word" translates the Greek logos, meaning the eternal expression, reason, wisdom, or creative utterance of God. It talks about Jesus not as a messenger but as God's self-revelation and communication made visible in human form. He embodies God's ordering of creation. Refer to Genesis 1, where God speaks and things exist, including his will, and his redemptive plan.

This also appears in Revelation 19:13 ("His name is the Word of God"). Jesus links himself to the written Scriptures by saying they testify about him (John 5:39). This implies that the Word of God is not abstract but a person who reveals the mind and intentions of God towards mankind. He is the second person of the Trinity.

The Bible itself is also called "the Word of God" because it is God's inspired, authoritative revelation to humanity. Here we call it the scripture(s)

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." (Isaiah 40:8)

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105)

“Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because "All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the LORD endures forever….” (1Pet.1.23-25)

Conclusively, the Word of God has two beautiful dimensions.

Firstly , it is the written Word, the Bible, with 66 books, divided into the Old Testament and New Testament, written over 1,500 years by more than 40 authors who wrote under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This means that while human authors wrote the words, the Holy Spirit guided their thoughts to ensure the message was exactly what God intended. It is God’s love letter to us, revealing His character, His plan, and how we can know Him.

Secondly, it is the living Word which is Jesus Christ Himself! John 1:14 says, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” Jesus is the perfect revelation of God. Everything the Bible points to is fulfilled in Him. The Bible is not just information; it is God speaking to you personally today.

In other instance, the Word of God is divided into the LOGOS (which means the total message or written Word) and RHEMA (meaning a specific spoken, revealed or applied word from God in a moment)

“... and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” ( Ephesians 6:17)

The Word of God is alive, authoritative, and divine. The Bible is the ultimate authority for truth. As believers, we must build our confidence in the written word and believe that the message of the Scriptures is a person, the person of Jesus.

Start a daily Bible reading habit. If you are new, begin with the Gospel of John (one chapter a day). Buy or download a simple version like the NIV, NKJV or NLT.

Stay tuned for part 2. Share your thoughts and questions in the comment section.

    Let us pray:
Father, thank You for giving me Your Word; both written and living in Jesus. Open my eyes today to see You in every page. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    God bless you richly!
