On May 24th, a deeply unsettling incident occurred in our local community here in Andhra Pradesh. While a congregation was peacefully gathered for Sunday service inside a newly constructed, in-progress building, a mob of Hindu extremists launched a cruel and unprovoked attack. The pastor and the church members present were subjected to severe violence right in the middle of their worship.
This blatant violation of human rights and freedom of faith has left our local community shaken and in deep distress. Yet, we are reminded of the words of Scripture: "Stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you." (Philippians 1:27-28).
We hold onto the ultimate truth of our faith: "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21). Whatever happens, we will stand for Christ. Even if death comes, we stand for God.
