VICTIM OF INFLUENCE

Ephesians 6:12
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

In 1998 I visited Accra, Ghana for a mission. In the course of my stay there, I interviewed a Liberian lady who was into prostitution. I was curious to know what could possibly lead someone into that line of business. Her response to the interview, is a revelation of a mystery that is hidden to many.

She said that when she was 12 years old, that her uncle raped her. That when that incident happened, that something died in her. From that moment she developed hatred for the male folk. To her, every male became a monster that should be killed. And sexual affection for all male died in her that day.

So when she relocated to Accra due to the unrest in her country, she decided that since she had no sexual feeling for the male folks that she can explore that as a means of income.

Rape in any form, is a wicked and highly condemnable act.

My concern this morning is to reveal one of the strategy of the enemy, in luring people into sin.

Proverbs 4:23 called our attention to guard our heart with all diligence, because out of it are the issues of life.

When your heart is not well guarded, you will become a VICTIM OF INFLUENCE by the enemy. This is what happened to the Liberian lady, and also to many who are involved in many sinful lifestyle.

Thoughts are voices spoken to your mind, either by the Spirit of God, or the spirit from devil. And every action or behaviour you show, begins from a seed of thought that was processed over a time.

The devil took advantage of the evil event in the life of the lady, and painted a monster image of all men in her heart. He then sealed it with a decision in her heart, "HATE ALL MEN, AND HAVE NO FEELINGS FOR THEM."

Often times you carry out certain actions and behaviour, without knowing the exact reason behind your actions.

This is why our Lord Jesus Christ said in Luke 23:34, "father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing."

In counseling the Liberian lady I told her to forgive her uncle that raped her, because he was also a VICTIM OF INFLUENCE. If he knew what he was doing, he would not have attempted that. I went further to explain to her that many men out there, are not her uncle. That lots of good men are out there, despite the act of her uncle. I explained to her that the monster picture that was created in her heart by the enemy, is not the true picture of men. That the enemy created that picture for her, for the purpose of destroying her destiny.

Forgiveness of her uncle recreated a new picture of men in her heart, and years of emotional wound was healed.

I am reaching out this morning to everyone of you, that is a VICTIM OF INFLUENCE of the negative experience of your past.

The event has happened, and nothing can change that. But how you see it, will determine the direction that your life will take from now.

The Liberian lady later became an evangelist, and went back to her country reaching out to ladies that are involved in prostitution and winning them to Christ.

This is what a change in what you see concerning a negative experience can do in the direction of your life.

You can turn around that which the enemy has purposed to use to destroy your life, and make it the greatest strength of your life to fulfil your destiny.

The glory of your later life, is much greater than what is now. Take your life back, and live it to the fullness of your destiny.

PRAYER:
Almighty God, I am amazed by the depth of your love and plan for me. I confess today that I have been a VICTIM OF INFLUENCE. Please forgive me today, and cleanse me with the blood of Jesus Christ of all unrighteousness. Lord Jesus Christ, I am accepting You today as my Lord and Saviour. I will no longer live in the bondage of my past. My life shall be to the glory of God in Jesus name Amen.

AVOID THE SECOND DEATH BY ALL MEANS.

Revelation 21:8
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

The duration of time you have to live on the physical earth, is given to you as a preparatory period for your final destination.

It has been said that when the purpose of a thing is not known, it will be abused and used for what it is not meant for.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."

This is a scripture that should be before us daily, to ensure that we live purposefully on earth.

If there is time for you to be born, there is also a time for you to die.
Between the time that you are born, and the time that you die, is a season with a specific time frame for you to prepare for life after here on earth.

Another dimension of the deceit of the enemy is to make you to live ignorant of time and season in achieving the purpose of it.

The "SECOND DEATH" is a mystery that many are not aware of, and this has led to careless living on earth.

There are TWO DEATHS, that will happen. The FIRST DEATH is the physical death, where your human spirit is separated from your human body. This first death will occur for everyone.

The SECOND DEATH is after you have died the first death, you are judged, found guilty, and thrown into the lake of fire. This will not occur for everyone.

Our anchor scripture gave a list of them that are included in the second death. Let us take a look at that list;

The coward
The unbelieving
The Abominable
The Murderers
The Sexually immoral
The Sorcerers
The Idol Worshippers
All liars

All the people mentioned in this list have one thing in common. Their actions are not pleasing to God. This list further reveals that all those who used their time on earth to please God Almighty, are not included in the list for SECOND DEATH.

The purpose of today's devotional is to make you aware that there is a second death that you need to avoid by all means, by living a life that will be pleasing unto God.

There is a saying in my dialect, that if things begins to go well for you from today after a long period of delay, that it is still early days for you.
This means that it does not matter how old you are, or how long you have lived a sinful life, if you decide to change today and live righteously, it will still be early days for you. That is the beauty of the love of God.

In 1999, while still working with INVESTORS EXPRESS LIMITED in the city of Aba, Abia State, Nigeria, a 72 years old man who was our client then, met me during my break time reading the small Gideon's Bible. He shook his head, and began to cry. I was taken aback, and I said to him "why are you crying sir? He said to me, I wish I had the time to do what you are doing now when I was your age". I was 29 years old then. I said to him "sir it is not late for you, you can start today and it will become your early days with God."

I am reaching out this morning to those who might be physically old, but still deep in sin. And those who have been long in their sinful lifestyle. Today should be your day of beginning afresh with God. Just like my 72 years old client, your early days with God can start today.

Almighty God, thank You for another day you have made to reach out to me personally. I confess today that I have been living a life that has included me in the list for SECOND DEATH. Please forgive me today, and cleanse me with the blood of Jesus Christ of all unrighteousness. Lord Jesus Christ, I am accepting You today as my Lord and Saviour. I will not die the second death in Jesus name Amen.
