- Prayer for Unforgiveness, Resentment, and Bitterness
Heavenly Father, I come to You burdened by bitterness. I want to let go of this anger, but
the pain is deep. I surrender my right to get even and ask that You take this burden from
me. You know the hurt I am holding onto. Forgiveness is a struggle for me right now, but
I know it is necessary for my healing. I choose to obey Your word and forgive, even
when my emotions don't want to. Give me the grace to extend mercy and transform my
heart so I am no longer held captive by the past. I thank You for the riches of Your
kindness, mercy, and patience, knowing that Your kindness has led me to repentance. I
confess that I have not extended that same patience and kindness toward others who
have offended me. Instead, I have held anger, bitterness, and resentment in my heart.
During this time of self-examination, I pray that you would recall all the people that I
need to forgive so that I may do so now. Help me to forgive as You have forgiven me.
Fill my heart with Your peace. Thank you for setting me free from the bondage of my
bitterness. I also pray that if I have offended others, You will recall only those people I
need to seek forgiveness and the extent to which I need to seek it. In Jesus' name we

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
