When a person receives the Holy Communion, the grace of the Eucharist extends to their entire family, to both the living and the departed. The grace received through Communion is so great that, no matter how sinful a person may be, if they come to the Lord who redeems us all with the humble awareness of their great sinfulness, even if they are covered from head to toe in the wounds of sins, they will be cleansed by the grace of Christ, becoming more and more radiant, fully illuminated, and they will be saved.
