Starting Our Deep Dive into 1st Samuel in a Few Days!

We’re kicking off 2025 by diving deep into the Old Testament, and I couldn’t be more excited to start this journey with you! Over the next two months, we’ll be exploring 1st and 2nd Samuel, packed full of rich biblical history, deep facts, and lessons that connect the Old Testament to the New in powerful ways.

Why 1st Samuel?
1st Samuel marks a pivotal moment in Israel’s history—it’s the transition from the time of the Judges to the establishment of the monarchy. We’ll explore the rise of Samuel, the prophet and priest, and the anointing of Saul, Israel’s first king. This study will give us a deeper understanding of God’s sovereignty and how His plans unfold, even when human decisions seem to complicate things.

As we begin, I want to share this: I’m an Old Testament guy through and through, and I’m thrilled to dive into these rich stories with you. Over the next couple of days, we’ll explore the themes of leadership, obedience, and God’s faithfulness, all while keeping our eyes open for how these Old Testament events point directly to Jesus Christ.

Get ready for detailed, insightful posts that will provide both deep biblical history and practical lessons for our lives today. We’ll be posting 2-4 times a week, and I’ll be breaking things down to keep it both educational and engaging.

One lonesome cardinal
Like one lonesome cardinal
In a green sea of leaves
I sit in the sunshine
And feel a cool winter’s breeze
A tiny spot of bright red
Amongst the gigantic trees
Like David and Goliath
Only God truly sees

My mind questions everything
But my spirit stands tall
I really don’t know anything
Not anything much at all
But somehow I know one thing
When I hear the Spirit call
God’s voice whispers something
And all my defenses fall

And like that one lonesome cardinal
Sheltering in the shade
I feel His arms around me
Coming to my aid
I feel the hug of sunshine
Until the moment fades
Then stand to face my giants
With the One who my sin debt paid

Lot’s Wife

Lord let me not be like Lot’s wife
Looking back with longing at the world
Let me not struggle with worry and strife
Over the fate of my wayward girls

Lord Lot’s wife looked back and turned into salt
A pillar of salt for all to see
Loving her children was her fault
Because she loved them more than Thee

Lord I pray for my children to repent
Turn their hearts toward Thee once more
Teach them that on You they must depend
For all our sins You bore

But I know ultimately they must choose
The path that they will take
And though some of them I may even lose
I must be steadfast for Your sake

Fight, fight, fight!!!

They took a shot at president Trump
But the bullet just grazed his ear
Then he raised his arm for a fist pump
And oh how the crowd did cheer!

Though they thought to draw blood from God’s man
God intervened and turned his head
Their own stupidity exposed their plan
And showed the evil that wanted him dead

They tried to smear him and put him in jail
But their lying lawfare didn’t work
Folks weren’t buying what they were trying to sell
And God’s man they couldn’t truly hurt

Trump was chosen for this very day and hour
For America to stand and fight
And with our prayers and God’s awesome power
We will stand and Fight, fight, fight!!!
