  • Am I in a season of renewal and if so is God testing me? So let's take it from the top. I've been in the church scene my whole life. I was saved and baptized in elementary school. I had a rough childhood. My dad cheated on my mom and they divorced. My dad remarried to the woman he was having an affair with. Then our mom passed in a car crash. The years following were very tumultuous. Our newfound stepmother did not like us because we were not her biological children. We suffered much abuse and narcissism under her care. The justice system intervened but by then it was too late. The damage had been done. My siblings completely walked away from the faith as a result of our troubled childhoods. When I turned 25 I met my wife. She understands John 3:16 but doesn't appear to have truly been saved. Shortly after we were married she lost three family members back to back. She turned her back on God after this happened and even went so far as to say "I am not into the Christian scene anymore." She watches porn, reads erotic books, uses foul language, listens to vulgar music, takes part in Native American rituals/keepsakes, refuses to keep a clean house, and is generally headed down the path of destruction. There was a point before this that I strayed but God didn't give up on me. Any attempts to lead her back on my part lead to annoyance on her end. I feel God may be distancing me from my family as a means to draw closer to Him. What are your thoughts?
