  • 4th January 2026 — Discernment

Discernment is understanding the difference between a moment and a heart.

    Peter had a bad day.
    Judas had a bad heart.

Peter denied Jesus out of fear, confusion, and human weakness; and yet his story did not end there.🏻 Judas, on the other hand, repeatedly chose deception, entitlement, and betrayal long before his final act.

And still, people often blur that line.

There are moments in life when others will define you by your own *Peter moments* -
the day you lost your cool under pressure,🏻
the words you wish you could take back,🏻
the season where you were simply surviving and you weren't at your best.

In doing so, they tend overlook so much:
    - the countless times you chose kindness🏻
    - the moments you put yourself last so others could come first☝🏻
    - the grace you extended even when it wasn’t deserved🫴🏻
    - the mercy you offered even when it cost you🏻
    - the attempts at reconciliation that went unseen

PEOPLE may reduce your entire character to a single failure. They may speak as if a hard moment reveals a completely corrupt heart.

But God does not do that.🏻

“The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
    — 1 Samuel 16:7

God knows the difference between who you are and what you went through. He knows whether your stumble was weakness, or intention.🏻

And discernment also teaches us this:
harsh judgment often reveals more about the one speaking than the one being judged.🏻

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”
    — Matthew 7:1

Today, I choose discernment over bitterness.🏻 I release the need to explain myself to those who only see fragments of my story. And I rest in the truth that God sees my heart fully, and loves me still, for exactly who I am, even in my Peter moments.🏻

This is Day 21 of 365. (from my birthday)
And I am grateful for a God who redeems me in my Peter moments and never mistakes them for a Judas heart.
