“The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of them that are taught.” Isaiah 50:4
I cringe a bit remembering my young self being so sure and convinced that the way I thought and viewed certain things was right and there was not room for seeing and learning when my mind was made up about something. I am grateful for the mercy of God (and of my friends) that patiently tolerated me. I had such intense zeal for the “truth” as I saw it, that I couldn’t hear God speaking through others. I can see now that that was part of my journey with God and He has orchestrated many events to take me through as to unplug my ears and open my understanding, showing me that I didn’t have Him figured out quite yet (ha, ha).
Some of God’s children are like that; filled with misdirected zeal at times. And others are totally passive not seeing anything to be intense about, going with the flow like a leaf in the wind, being affected by every opinion. And that is their journey to eventually seeing themselves as they are - in Christ. The Lord in His faithfulness takes every one of us through the necessary events as to get our attention in our stubbornness or complacency. Whether we are stubborn in our ways or passive, our need to be taught by God is the same.
A friend from our discipleship group shared the other day how she noticed a patience she had with people at work that she didn’t have previously. She wasn’t sure how it happened, she just noticed how different she was. She has been taught by the Lord and the fruit of the Spirit was the evidence.
Can you recognize one area of your life that the Lord lets it surface regularly because He wants to teach you something new about Himself? What keeps you un-teachable? Is it stubbornness or passivity? Is it a lack of Truth and fellowship? Or is it a lie that you are unwilling to let go through holding on to resentment and un-forgiveness? We all have our issues and need a “safe” place to be transparent and vulnerable. And thus the Lord has provided the Body Of Christ on earth for His Spirit’s work to take place .
Have you ever wondered how the Holy Spirit may deal with us?when we become unteachable and stuck? Check out the “how to know” list at the bottom of this. <3 Elena
Referring to Isaiah 50:4 Watchman Nee wrote; “These words are written prophetically about the Lord Jesus. They can be rendered, “the tongue of a disciple”; one, that is, who has disciplined himself to learn. The secret of spiritual advance is openness to be taught by God. We must throw heart and mind and spirit wide open to Him, preserving always a way for divine impressions to reach us. When in our youth we first engaged in Christian work, we fancied we knew all there was to be known, and were so set in our ideas that friends found it almost impossible to get anything different across to us. Un-teachableness is a barrier to progress. If a person cannot learn, what possibility has he of advance? Oh, may God deliver us from our reluctance to accept instruction! To receive through whatever means, humbly and without hesitation, whatever He desires to teach us is to prosper in the school of Christ.”
How To Know:
When you feel the Holy Spirit prompting you to let go of something and you choose to hold onto it, your experience with Him typically shifts from peaceful alignment to loving, persistent correction. In Christian theology, this resistance is often referred to as "grieving" or "quenching" the Spirit.
Here is what you might experience from Him during that time:
**A Loss of Inner Peace**
* **Persistent unrest:** A deep, underlying sense of anxiety or agitation replaces your usual spiritual calm.
* **Internal friction:** A constant, nagging friction in your soul whenever you engage with the thing you are holding onto.
* **An active conscience:** A heightened awareness of your disobedience, often described as a "heavy heart."
**Loving Conviction**
* **Relentless reminders:** The Holy Spirit does not simply drop the issue; He will continually bring it to your mind.
* **Scriptural illumination:** Bible verses, sermons, or worship lyrics will suddenly seem to speak directly and uncomfortably to your specific situation.
* **External confirmation:** God may use godly friends, mentors, or random conversations to echo the exact prompting you are trying to ignore.
**Spiritual Dryness**
* **Distant communication:** Your prayers might feel like they are bouncing off the ceiling, creating a sense of relational distance.
* **Loss of passion:** A sudden lack of desire for spiritual disciplines like reading Scripture, worship, or fellowship.
* **Stagnant growth:** A feeling of being spiritually "stuck" or unable to mature further until this specific hurdle is cleared.
**Divine Frustration of Your Plans**
* **Closed doors:** The Holy Spirit may actively block your efforts to find fulfillment or success in the area you refuse to surrender.
* **Empty victories:** Even if you succeed in keeping the thing you want, it will likely feel empty, unfulfilling, or draining.
* **Loving discipline:** God may allow the very thing you are holding onto to cause you enough discomfort or pain that you are eventually willing to let it go.The Disciple’s Journey ~ **Spiritual Stubbornness Blocks Growth And So Does Passivity ** “The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of them that are taught.” Isaiah 50:4 I cringe a bit😬 remembering my young self being so sure and convinced that the way I thought and viewed certain things was right and there was not room for seeing and learning when my mind was made up about something. Until his kingdom is elevated we are nothing but failures.

- Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The mind it the believers must be transformed.
The heart of the believers must be renewed.
The prove that we are save is the regeneration that happens to us in our mind and spirit.
Sometimes, we may find ourselves in sin; but because we are renewed, we cannot be comfortable with it. As a matter o fact, we will feel terrible after committing those sins.
Brothers and Sisters, that is the prove that we are regenerated.
