  • Sometimes we come before God carrying so much that we don't even know where to begin.
    The situation feels heavy.
    The emotions are loud.
    The words don't come.
But Scripture gives us somewhere to begin.
You don't have to manufacture the perfect prayer.
You can begin with what God has already said.
The Word can become the words of your prayer.

  • What if the way you pray is shaped by what you believe about God — and what you believe about yourself?
Faith starts with believing Him at His Word.

  • You don't have to ignore your emotions when you pray.
The goal isn't to pretend you're not afraid.
The goal is to allow God's Word to speak into your fear rather than allowing fear to dictate the entire prayer.

  • It’s more than semantics.

Waiting FOR God is about expectation.
Waiting IN God is about abiding.
Waiting ON God is about dependence.

And perhaps maturity is learning to discern which posture this season requires — and when it requires all three.

In this season, how is God asking you to wait?

  • Two years ago I was in prayer service at church.

During service I heard this question in my spirit:

"What does wa Tshepehala mean to you?"

Like I always do when something gets dropped in my spirit, I grabbed my notebook and put pen to paper.

    I answered:

"It means You are credible. That You have a track record of doing what You said You would do. A record of coming through. You are dependable. You are capable of performing that which You said."

"Am I trustworthy?" was the follow-up question.

    "Yes Lord, You are."

The following Monday I was retrenched at work.

This is a testimony — not only of how He came through — but more importantly, of the things He taught me while I waited.

    - I learnt the difference between waiting on Him, for Him and in Him.
    - I learnt the part I played in this loss. That was a hard pill to swallow.
    - I learnt how to pray Scripture instead of my emotions.
    - I learnt to not need what I want.
    - And I learnt how to express my own creativity.

I might share more on these.

But first — the "Won't He do it? Yes He will." The "Let God cook."

When I was retrenched, I stood on that word — that He is trustworthy.

The challenge was remaining steadfast in it.

    Two years without a job.

    Countless hours spent rewriting CVs.

A folder full of CVs sent.

    Ghosted by recruiters.

    Bills piling up.

    Debt collectors calling.

    The only car broke down.

My small family moved in with my mother.

On days when it felt like I was standing on a skateboard and my knees were about to give way, I buckled in and bent a little lower.

Yesterday, I signed a new job contract.

    Elated is an understatement.

    Saying thank You feels insufficient.

So I am shouting it to the world:

    God cooked.

    And boi, is it good.
