RESURRECTION SUNDAY

NOTHING WILL CATCH YOU OFF-GUARD

These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep - John 11:11

The resurrection of Lazarus is an object lesson in how to be led by the Spirit. Even though Lazarus was dead, the Lord Jesus Christ knew He would live again. But how did He know? He knew by the Spirit. Luke 1:35 says, ‘And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.’ The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and caused her to conceive. The Lord Jesus Christ was born of the Spirit. He was the first and only Man at the time who was born of God. And as a result, He was born with the Holy Spirit dwelling inside Him. This is different to His encounter with the Holy Spirit at His baptism. That was Him receiving the Holy Spirit for ministry. That was for preaching the gospel, casting out devils, healing the sick, cleansing the leper, and raising the dead. That’s the ministry of the Holy Spirit upon, and not within.

Luke 4:18 says, ‘The Spirit of the Lord is UPON me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.’ The Holy Spirit upon is for ministry. It’s for power. It’s for the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit. Acts 1:8 says, ‘ But ye shall RECEIVE POWER, after that the HOLY GHOST IS COME UPON YOU…’ The Holy Spirit upon us is for service. However, we must also be acquainted with the Holy Spirit within us. Romans 8:14 says, ‘For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.’ We are the sons of God, and God gave us the Holy Spirit at the new birth to lead us in this world. The leading of the Spirit is very different to the manifestation of the Spirit through His gifts.

1 John 2:27 says, ‘But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.’ The anointing of the Spirit upon us is for ministry, but the anointing of the Spirit within us is for leading us in life. When you were born again, the Holy Spirit came to dwell in you so that He could lead you. This is what many call a sixth sense or intuition. It's an inward witness of the Spirit. It’s a supernatural knowing that no man can teach you. You just know that you know what to do. This is the Holy Spirit within you. Once developed, through this ability, the Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you, not for purposes of ministry, but for your own life. Through this faculty, you can know which course to study, which university to attend, which person to marry, which job to take, which city to live in. This is the unction of the Spirit within us. The Lord has not left us comfortless. The Holy Spirit dwells inside us. He’s here to guide us and give us an advantage over the people of this world. Over the circumstances of this world. With the Spirit in us, we’re always streets ahead of the system of this world. Nothing catches us off-guard. Glory to God!

I am born of the Spirit, therefore, I’m led by the Spirit of God because I’m a son of God. Nothing comes into my life without my knowledge. Glory to God!
