"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." — John 15:19
There’s a growing trend in the modern church—the desire to be liked by the world. Some believe that if we make Christianity more appealing, more comfortable, or more culturally acceptable, we’ll draw people in. But Jesus never called us to blend in—He called us to stand apart.
The world loves its own. It embraces what aligns with its values, its desires, and its priorities. But when we truly follow Christ, we will stand out—and that means rejection. Jesus made it clear: if we are truly His, the world will not love us.
The danger comes when churches compromise truth for popularity—watering down the gospel, avoiding hard truths, and shaping worship to fit the world’s expectations. But we are not called to make Christianity comfortable—we are called to make Christ known.
Paul reminds us in Romans 12:2, “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Our mission is not to mirror the world but to reflect Christ. If we are truly living for Him, we won’t need the world’s approval—because we already have God’s acceptance.
Let’s be bold. Let’s stand firm. Let’s embrace the calling to be set apart—because a church that looks like the world cannot change the world.
Have a great day, and as always, let others see Jesus in you!
