The evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Acts 19:15

Thought Of The Day...
The modern world teaches that demons exist only in our imaginations and fears. But the Bible teaches that demons are evil spirits that torture people who open themselves to their influence.
In Paul's day there were Jewish exorcists who tried to cast demons out of people by using liturgical prayers and religious paraphernalia. The seven sons of Sceva, a high priest, made their living by trying to cast out demons. Seeing that Paul was casting out demons in the name of Jesus, they wanted to experiment with this new technique. But when they tried it on one man, the demon did not go out. Instead, it asked, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Then it gave them a beating they would never forget.
If even demons know who Jesus and his followers are, then how is it that many of us don't know our own spiritual identity in Christ? Many of us live in fear and defeat because we do not know who we are in Christ. Demons acknowledged their submission to Paul because they knew that Paul identified with Christ.
Do you know who you are? Are you a fearful and reclusive son or daughter of God? Do you know that as a child of God you have power over demonic forces? Let's not settle for allowing demons to know more than we do about our true identity.
Prayer...
Heavenly Father, As we approach your throne today, we humbly acknowledge that we are your children, purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ. We thank you for your love and grace that has made us heirs of your kingdom. But at the same time, we confess our weakness and vulnerability in the face of evil.
Lord, we ask for your strength and courage to stand against the powers of darkness that seek to deceive and destroy us. Help us to recognize the schemes of the enemy and to resist them with the power of your Spirit. Give us discernment and wisdom to see ourselves as we truly are, your beloved children, and to live in a manner worthy of our calling.
We pray for a revival of your presence and power in our lives and in our communities. Like the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19 who were confronted by a demon-possessed man, may we also have the boldness and authority to proclaim the name of Jesus and see demons flee. May your name be glorified and your kingdom advanced through our lives.
Lord, we surrender ourselves to you and ask that you work in us and through us for your glory. Strengthen us to walk in obedience and to be a light in this world, shining brightly in the darkness around us. Empower us to share your love and truth with those who are lost and in need of hope. Let our words and actions reflect your compassion and mercy, drawing others to you.
We pray for unity among your people, that we may stand together in faith, supporting and encouraging one another as we seek to fulfill your purpose. May our lives be a testament to your goodness, and may we never forget the sacrifice made for us.
In all things, let your will be done. We trust in your perfect plan and know that you are always with us. Thank you for hearing our prayer. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
