This happened when King David committed adultery and gave “... great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme” (2 Samuel 12:14a). It is a terrible thing to bring disgrace on the name of God. Yet today many people who call themselves Christians are bringing shame to God’s name by their sinful lifestyle. 📌Jesus had a lot to say to hypocrites, “Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men’” (Matthew 15:7-9). Even worse, hypocrites prevent others from coming to God, or when they do win someone to their way of thinking, Jesus said, “you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves” (Matthew 23:15b). 📌Those who seem to be righteous to others but are not right with God in their hearts are in great danger. Jesus said to them, “Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?” (Matthew 23:33). “For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he may gain much, if God takes away his life?” (Job 27:8). “But the hypocrites in heart store up wrath” (Job 36:13a).
