For the first time, I think anyway, since I started this writing thing, I have sincerely felt the characters in the book that I am currently writing.
I entered a competition that has us write a complete novella/novel in 90 days, complete with editing and ready for publication. I was going to do one last year but backed out. I had too much going on to focus on such a project. I still have a lot going on; however, this time is different. I truly feel led by Him to do this. As a matter of fact, I am so hyper focused on this story, I cannot get the thoughts to paper fast enough. This story is intense and … and I feel the characters. It is unlike anything I have ever written before.
This is what I want to do in retirement. This is how I want to spend my time. Writing stories like this one that I am currently in. Exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time. Exhausting because I cannot keep up; but exhilarating because I have no idea where it is going to land. I think I do, but the ending I think it has is in the middle of a cyclone mess of tornado hurricanes itching to make their path clear.
Today I asking that you all feel free to ask me how it is going, to pray that I stay on track (we are 9 days into the challenge) and do not lose focus. The enemy has already tried on several occasions to derail me, to no avail. He has placed the need for perfection and correction as I go … which if done that way will slow the process down and we all know that perfection is not attainable…there will always be another idea which will change the scope of the story and cause a re-write. One of the coaches in this challenge has stated that when we open the door to others to know that we are doing this, their curiosity, encouragement, and enthusiasm help us to maintain our stride. I believe that. You are all very much an important part of who I am and how I write. I thank you.
I do plan to take my laptop to work and write on my lunch. I am sure my beta readers are chomping at the bit. When I do this, I tend to get lost in videos, I ask that you pray that the video streams have no stronghold on me today and that I may stay focused on this story. Your prayers are much appreciated.
