“Jesus replied, “Let the faith of God be in you! Listen to the truth I speak to you: Whoever says to this mountain with great faith and does not doubt, ‘Mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the midst of the sea,’ and believes that what he says will happen, it will be done. This is the reason I urge you to boldly believe for whatever you ask for in prayer—be convinced that you have received it and it will be yours.” (‭‭Mark‬ ‭11‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭TPT‬‬)

This passage of scripture has been used in the “prosperity” and the “name it and claim it” gospel for many years. So; does this mean that I can ask for anything, believe it by faith and receive it? Can I literally make mountains move with my faith?
Let’s break it down to what Yeshua is really saying in these verses.
First of all, Yahweh is not a genie in a bottle, and you don’t get unlimited wishes by relying on these verses; I don’t care how much faith that you think you have.
Verse 22 tells us to have Yahweh’s kind of faith. He expects us to speak faith and walk by faith, but it doesn’t give us a license to obtain everything that we want, just because, we believe it and can speak it into existence.
When Yeshua said in verse 23 that our faith can make mountains to be uprooted and moved, He wasn’t talking about moving actual mountains. He was using this to emphasize how powerful our faith is. The mountains represent large obstacles in our lives. When we stand in, operate in and speak in faith, we have the power to move and even remove these mountains (obstacles) in our lives.
Verse 24 has been use by many preachers. They led people to believe, just because you want something, that you just have to speak it and and believe it, and it will come to pass. So, what was Yeshua talking about, when He said to ‘boldly believe whatever you ask for in prayer, be convinced that you have received it and it will be yours?’
The first thing that we must realize is, what Yahweh gives us, only happens if it according to His will, and secondly, will it bring Him glory? Remember, we are here to operate in a way that glorifies the Father. He knows the end from the beginning, He knows what will happen if He were to give you everything you ask for. We have to ask ourselves, is what I’m asking for, lining up with the Father’s will, and will it benefit my work for the Kingdom.
Yahweh, doesn’t mind you having nice things but we don’t move the hand of Yahweh with our wants and even our needs. He already knows our needs. When your prayers of faith, is about His glory, then the material things will be added blessings, unless they won’t be good for you.
The bottom line is that our prayers should be about what Yahweh wants more than what we want.
This doesn’t mean, we can’t crawl up in His lap and talk about things that we want. He’s your daddy and He loves to bless you.
