WE NEED REVIVAL PRAYING, BREAKING UP THE FALLOW GROUND AND TO CRITICALLY DISCERN THE TIME.
REVIVAL PRAYING.
A Spirit of prayer and intercession is associated with spiritual awakening in scripture and in history.
Revival is preceded by prayer, birthed through intercession, and sustained by fervent, persevering prayer. Prayer is the central living element to every spiritual awakening and every moving of the Holy Spirit.
Many reformers were men and women of intense prayer. They prayed, believing for revival, reformation, or spiritual awakening. A spirit of revival or renewal in believers should always result in renewed spirit of prayer. Fervent prayer is one of the first signs of revived spiritual life in a believer and in the church.
PRAYER is an awesomely powerful weapon in our spiritual war with the enemy. Let us prepare to seek God and His awesome presence.
Our need for revival is NOW.
As prayer intercessors, we must pray that God will 'come down' and bring us His deliverance. We need God to rain upon us with His presence, that His fire will come and burn upon us.
- We need a spiritual awakening and a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
- We must pray for a renewal of God's vision in us.
- We must pray for a Spirit of revival and God to send it soon.
God desires to "come down" and change; conditions in our nations, our churches, our schools, our families, our lives. Job 10:12, 1 Pet. 2:12, Lk. 1:6-8....
BREAKING UP FALLOW GROUND.
Hosea 10:12 is one of the great revival scriptures concerning prayer:
To break up implies shattering, penetrating, splitting, dividing, or opening up that which has been closed. Unproductive soil produces nothing. It is ground that has been fruitful in the past, but is now unproductive. Revival comes to renew this ground so that it might bring forth, 30, 60 and 100 fold fruit once again. Unplowed ground is destitute of the fruit it might produce because of neglect.
Unplowed ground is destitute of the fruit it might produce because of neglect. It is the soil of the hearts of those whose affections, habits, and thoughts were once bearing a rich harvest for God, but whose hearts have become barren through temptation, neglect and ignorance.
The fallow ground is unprofitable soil. It is the carnal natural man, and it must be broken up. The hard ground must be broken by the plan of the Word and the plan of the Spirit, which works in our hearts through prayer.
Hard, uncultivated ground that is covered with weeds, thistles, and thorns that have caused unfruitful needs to be opened to the sun, the dew and the rain of God. Unless the ground is prepared, the rain will fall but not be absorbed. It will not penetrate the heart.
DISCERNING THE TIME.
Hosea 10:12. All revivals have a special sovereign timetable that God Himself understands and works upon.
The next step is understanding the times. Job 14:13 states. "That you would appoint me a set time."
This is a set time to intercede, a set time to understand the times of God. In Romans 13:11, it says, "Now is the time!"
Revival praying taps into the appointed time of God's purpose. Nehemiah 10:39, Ezra 10:14, Esther 4:14.
We need to hear God's voice afresh and anew. It is time where we see prophecy being fulfilled, a time when God's purposes are extended. Romans 13:11. It is a time when God himself seeks to work in wonderful and powerful ways.
There are appointed and acceptable times in God's economy when He fulfills His appointed purposes. Revival is a time when God makes culture, history, and His Kingdom interact and intersect for His appointed purposes on earth. #Prayerlessness is not just a sin that will ruin your spiritual life, but it may cause you to miss God's extended purposes and His appointed times.
