Title: Anarchy (Part 2)
Category: Discipline

According to a 2020 study, monarchy arose as a system of governance because of an efficiency in governing large populations and expansive territories during periods when coordinating such populations was difficult. (Wikipedia)

In 1 Samuel 8, Israelites ask Samuel to appoint a King to rule them like other nations.

Because:
1. Samuel Sons' didn't follow God's decree
2. Israelite Elders' thinks He's already old
3. Israelites requested and
4. Israelites forgot God as their King

4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.”
6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.
1 Samuel 8:4-7 NIV

The desire to have a good leader is not bad, but what makes it bad is to desire it without remembering that there is a greater king than all kings.

Let every nation remember that Jesus is our King of kings and the Lord of lords, because His majesty is above all names.

13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you 14 to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
1 Timothy 6:13-15 NIV
