CHOSEN, AND SPECIAL. WITH A DIVINE PURPOSE.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a Mercy Reuben people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light - 1 Peter 2:9
There’s a reason you must refuse to yield to Satan and his lies. You are who God says you are. He says we’re a chosen race. In other words, we’re a chosen people. People might reject you, people might ignore you, but God has already chosen you. You’re God’s chosen one. Ephesians 1:4-5 says, ‘According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.’ God chose you to be His from the foundation of the world. With all your flaws and mistakes, worts and all, God still chose you. He predestined you to be born of Him. Your new birth was discussed and agreed upon before the foundation of the world. Your sonship in Christ was signed and sealed before time began. And He did all of this in love, therefore, God loves you. God did this according to the good pleasure of His will. God takes good pleasure in you and your existence is His will. You’re not a mistake. You’re not a disappointment. God truly loves you because He’s your Daddy God.
He says we’re His special people. That means we’re special. Some Christians, out of trying to be humble, they like saying things like, ‘I’m just an ordinary person.’ There’s nothing ordinary about who you are. Colossians 2:9-10 says, ‘For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.’ The fullness of the Godhead dwells in the Lord Jesus Christ bodily. In other words, the Father, the Word, and the Spirit, all dwell inside the Man Jesus. He carries the fullness of God in Him. But this Christ Jesus, dwells inside you and I. Which means, the fullness of the Godhead now dwells inside you and I. He then says, ‘And ye are complete in Him.’ We are completely divine. God has held nothing back in making us like Him. We’re completely like Him. How can you be ordinary then? In another version, it says, ‘We’re God’s peculiar people.’ You’re special. You’re unique. You’re peculiar. That’s why you must refuse to be ordinary. Insist on standing out.
He then says we’re here to display the excellencies, deeds, virtues, and perfections of God. What a divine purpose! We’re not here to be insignificant. We’re not here to be trodden under foot. We’re here to live the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. As He is, so are we in this world. We’re here to display the glory and beauty of our kingdom. With Christ dwelling in us, we’re equipped to show forth the excellencies, works, virtues, and perfections of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvellous light. That’s why you must refuse to be ordinary. You’re a partaker of the divine nature. That’s not normal. Of His fullness have you received. That’s not ordinary. You’re born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and abides forever. That’s different. That’s unusual. That’s peculiar. No wonder God commands us to be humble. There’s no need to tell a worm to be humble. There’s no need for a speck in the dust to humble itself. If you want to know your true identity, just look at your Father. If you want to know the type of children He produces, just look at your older Brother, the Lord Jesus Christ. As He is, so are you in this world. Glory to God!
CONFESSION
Christ dwells in me. Therefore, I am special, unique, and peculiar. I am as special, unique, and peculiar as my Daddy God, as my older Brother, the Lord Jesus Christ. Glory to God!
