To increase: God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful and increase in number; Genesis 1:22 NIV. To increase means to grow, develop, multiply, extend, enlarge, expand and mature.
The purpose of God for marriage is to see the couple increase numerically, spiritually, financially, physically and health wise. Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords. Strengthen your stakes for you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. Isaiah 54:2-3 NIV. God is a God of increase; He brings increase on whatever he created and also planned increase alongside marriage. His plan is for couples to enjoy their marriage life in prosperity and with abundance of blessings that accompany marriage. He wants the married couples to prosper in whatever they are doing; because his favor is already available for anyone who is married. Who so finddeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favor of the lord. Proverbs 18:22 KJV.
Therefore, your obedience to God’s commands is what determines your increase. When you obey God, your increase is nonnegotiable and irrevocable.
