THEME: DO NOT REMEMBER THE THINGS OF EGYPT
TEXT: Numumbers 11 vs 4 -5
And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?5 - We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick.
Not everyone who left Egypt was an Israelite some where foriegn nationals known as the mixed multitude. Even among believers today not everyone is a child of God some are part of the mixed multitude. The multitude are people who are in between light and darkness. They are around the things of God but do not have a genuine relationship with God. The mixed multitude left Egypt because the benefits the would get from being in the promised land and not because they wanted followed the God of Isreal.
The scripture says there was a lusting for meat among the mixed multitude and even the Israelites begun to lust after meat, and they begun to remember what they were eating in egypt for free. The danger of the mixed multitude is that they walk by sight and not by faith. They will shift your attention from what God has said to the things of the past, they will make you think that the days you where is the world are better than now that you are born again.
There is always a wilderness between moving from Egypt to the promise land. When your eyes are still on things Egypt than what God said you will always be complaining and hence, delaying your Journey. Egypt is the world, a place of bondage and slavery to the pleasures of sin; to the lust of flesh, lust of the eye and the pride of life. When you leave egypt never look back or try to remember the free things of Egypt you will relent in your walk with God. When you leave egypt ensure that Egypt also leaves you.
CONFESSION
I will not remember the things of Egypt, I forcus on the destiny God has install for me on his promises in Jesus mighty name AMEN
