If That is What It Takes: Pain Pang Before Birth

Genesis 17:24 (BSB)
“So Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised...”

For 25 years, Abraham held on to God’s promise that he would be a father through Sarah, his wife. Just before the promise was fulfilled, God asked for more—a covenant sealed by circumcision. A 99-year-old man had to bear his foreskin to the knife.

Yet Abraham didn’t back down. He went all the way with God.

When God wants His will done on earth, He looks for partners—men and women who will carry His burden and birth His purpose. But divine partnership comes with a price.

Mary bore that pain when she submitted to be the mother of Christ. Jesus bore it on the cross to bring salvation. Abraham bore it through years of waiting and the pain of late-life circumcision to partner with God in birthing a nation.

What has God promised you? What are you carrying or keeping for God?

If you're feeling the pain pang before the birth, you’re not far from delivery.

Yes, it will cost you. Yes, it will scar you. But it will also bless generations. And the reward is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 (NIV)
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

You are God's partner. His vessel. His carrier.

Your pain is not punishment—it’s partnership.
Your scar is not shame—it’s a sign of glory.
Your wait is not wasted—it’s the womb of the promise.

Bear the pain. Birth the promise. God will be glorified in your journey.
