MODERN-DAY IGNORANCE: THE SILENT CRISIS IN THE CHURCH In today’s world, ignorance is not the absence of information—it is the neglect of divine revelation in the midst of abundant noise. We are in an age of information overload, yet many remain spiritually bankrupt. With sermons available online, Bible apps on every phone, and access to multiple translations of the Word, one would assume that ignorance should be extinct. But sadly, ignorance has evolved into something more dangerous: willful blindness and spiritual passivity. ⚠️ Types of Modern Ignorance Among Believers 1. Ignorance of Scripture Many believers rely solely on what they hear on Sundays without ever verifying or studying the Word for themselves. They quote verses out of context, fall prey to false doctrines, or misapply scriptures. Like Eve, they know parts of the truth, but not the whole counsel of God. Example: A believer may constantly pray for open doors but neglect the principles of diligence and integrity taught in Proverbs—because they’ve never read them. 2. Ignorance of Spiritual Authority Believers who do not know their authority in Christ live defeated lives. They fear the devil more than they reverence God, bowing to every demonic manipulation. Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power...” (Luke 10:19), but if this power is not known or believed, it remains dormant. 3. Ignorance of Covenant Identity Many Christians still walk with a slave mentality. They do not know they are seated in heavenly places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6). This ignorance leads to inferiority, fear, and compromise. When you don’t know who you are, you will accept whatever the world labels you. 4. Ignorance of the Enemy’s Devices Paul warned in 2 Corinthians 2:11, “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” But today, many believers ignore spiritual warfare entirely. They attribute spiritual battles to luck, bad days, or human enemies. This ignorance leads to cycles of delay, frustration, and oppression. 5. Ignorance of God's Timing and Seasons Some miss divine opportunities because they do not understand how God moves in seasons. Like the ten virgins who lacked oil, they are unprepared for divine moments due to ignorance of God’s calendar. ________________________________________ 📉 The Fruits of Ignorance Today • Shallow Christianity: Many profess Christ but lack depth. They are tossed to and fro by every new teaching (Ephesians 4:14). • Manipulated Congregations: Wolves in sheep’s clothing thrive where ignorance prevails. When people don't know the truth, they will follow charisma instead of character. • Powerless Churches: Where truth is absent, power is absent. The early church moved in power because they moved in revelation. ________________________________________ 🕯️ God’s Expectation in an Age of Light In Acts 17:30, Scripture says, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.” In this era of abundant light, ignorance is no longer excused. God expects His people to pursue knowledge, to seek truth, and to be rooted in His Word. Spiritual maturity is no longer optional. In these last days, God is raising an army that knows His voice, discerns the times, understands His Word, and walks in dominion. 🔁 Reflection Points 1.
