This is a promise from God about your life as a son or daughter of the Most High.
The enemy will use your past against you as a weapon to criple your spiritual walk, but the Word says that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Focus on your new life in Christ, resist the enemy's tactics to use your past against you (James 4:7).
You are no longer who you were, and anything that is left in you of the old self, the Father will work it out of you.
Every day when you are in prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything that's not like God in you. As He shows you things that are contrary to the Father's desire for your life, surrender them to Him, laying them at His feet. Ask the Father to replace those things with more of His attributes. This may not be a one time thing, because we still war with the flesh. Surrender must be a lifestyle, and part of your daily walk.
