Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s independence, take a few moments and think about the true independence that you have. The independence that severed the bonds of death condemning you to hell. The independence that opened up the gates of heaven. The independence that gives you daily peace and security. The independence that introduced you to true Love.
Mind you, I am not mocking our great nation. I served her…proudly. But my true independence in life came from a man who had not met me yet that died on the cross for the stupid stuff that I would do two thousand years later. My true independence came when a Father sent his Son to come live with us and teach us and then die for us. My true independence for a blessed life came from Jesus Christ.
I think sometimes in this country we forget just how blessed we are. I think that we have become so accustomed to getting things our way or a certain way, that we forget the how and the way that those blessings came about.
Two hundred and fifty years ago, people who felt oppressed by a stern and controlling government took up arms and fought back. Eight(ish) years later, signed off on what is now our governing base line. In said documents, giving us the freedom to worship our God without government interference. We have become so focused on that aspect of our blessings, that we have forgotten the One who granted those blessings in the first place. Jesus Christ.
As we prepare to celebrate the resounding sacrifices made for our freedoms, remember that Jesus is the reason we have True Freedom. Jesus is the reason we have kept our freedom.
While you are celebrating our nation’s birthday, remember to say thank you to the One who made it possible.
Be blessed today my friends.
***So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. –1 Corinthians 10:31
