God Can Do More
Even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead . . . Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise.
ROMANS 4:19–20 NLT
You may be able to imagine a great deal for your life, but have you ever considered how much more God can do? Abram did. Since he and Sarai were well past their childbearing years and still childless, Abram asked the Lord to make his servant Eliezer his heir. Yet God had much better for him. He promised Abram a son whose offspring would be more numerous than the stars of heaven. With no city lights to obscure Abram’s vision, he looked upward into the dark night and saw a multitude of shining lights.
Here was a man whose likelihood of having one child was nil. But Abram believed God, and the Lord did immeasurably more than Abram could possibly conceive.
This is instructive for us. We often ask for so little when the Lord is ready to do the miraculous, and our unbelief limits what Christ’s superabundant power can do in us. Don’t make that terrible mistake. Today, expect the Father to do great things in your life. And like Abram, show you believe Him by obeying His every direction. Certainly, He will defy your hopes in ways that are truly surprising.
Jesus, I will trust You to provide beyond what I can imagine. Amen.
