Jesus' healing and deliverance miracles is also for those in mental crisis. The deranged can be set free and made whole as happened in Matthew 8: 28 – 34. (Also Mark 5: 1 - 16).
There are various causes of madness. These include stressful situations of life, excessive thinking, traumatic experiences, inability to recover after terrible incidence, depression, dementia, brain damage as a result of injury, narcotics, divorce, death of loved ones, and demons, among others.
Of all mentioned above, the most terrible is a madness that is demonically rooted and driven. When evil spirits are behind mental affliction, it's in vain running to psychiatric hospital. The victim needs the divine intervention of the Holy Ghost. It takes the Spirit's Anointing to set such captive free.
The madman of Gadarenes is a typical case of a man mentally afflicted by evil spirits. From his case, we can deduct the following spiritual facts of what demons can do to the one they possessed:
1.) Demons can possess a man to make him their dwelling place or home. (Matt 8: 28 Mark 5: 2)
2.) Evil spirits can take over human personality/ entirety of a man, to make the victim loses his five senses to the influences of the demonic realms. (Mark 5: 2 - 5)
3.) Unclean spirits exercise their own demonic powers, vices, and stiff resistance through the ones they possessed. (Mark 5: 2 - 5)
4.) Demons would seek to destroy the self-esteem, vision, fortunes, future, habitation and relationships, of their victims. (Matt 8:28)
5.) Demons can recognize the presence and power of God in people's life, especially when such anointed person approach their zones. (Matt 8: 29 Mark 5: 6 - 7)
6) Evil, unclean spirits can speak through the mouth of the possessed person, and dialogue/negotiate with the anointed man of God. (Matt 8: 29 - 32; Mk 5: 7 – 13)
The good news is that Jesus set the man free. He commanded and demons of acute madness were all gone forever. Jesus is longing to heal lunatics through me and you. By His anointing upon us, He wants to liberate all ho mentally deranged. Yeah, insanity can be cured by the power of the Holy Ghost. We can cast out demons of insanity in the name of Jesus Christ. All we need is faith that works with the raw power of God.
