Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Yesterday was my birthday, so I took a day off from braining. My brain is very happy.
We went to see dad yesterday. He has fallen again and is banged up pretty good but is still dad. He has gotten even thinner than the last time we saw him, and his breaths are raspier, however, he is still motoring right along. Just a lot slower. This vicious beast is taking its sweet time and dad still thinks it is pneumonia; however, God has a different plan and now I know where he will be when his body can fight no more. I am okay with that.
Today we have our own set of appointments, which I anticipate going fairly smoothly. Mostly routine every six months kind of deal.
Afterwards, some quality time with my husband and the to see an old friend. An unlikely friend at that, but again, God knows what he is doing, and I am okay with that.
Many times the plans that we think we know are not really the plans that He has. It looks like they are because of the circumstances, but they are but one step on the staircase of our success.
For example…I have tried to transfer on many occasions from my current office. After being turned down five years ago for a transfer, I said I was done trying to get promoted. I obviously was meant for my office. Then a potential possibility arose a couple of years ago. I was not looking; it came to me. I prayed, no red flags. I applied; I was beat. I actually giggled at this loss. Again, I have taken the position that I am supposed to stay in my office. Another circumstance arose to which I volunteered to help, I was denied. I am pretty sure that I am right where I am supposed to be. Haha.
With the exception of the one time here recently where I giggled when I was not chosen, I have been very agitated for not getting the promotions that I applied for. Knowing that others who had promoted even though their skill set was not quality. When you are told you are the most qualified but too lowly to promote, it really hits a nerve. But each of those circumstances taught me a lesson on how He was building me. How he was forming me. What my path was to be. What He expected from me. It has taken me a while to get it through this thick head of mine, but it is here.
Each time I was turned down, I got bitter. Each time I did not get what I wanted, I got angry … and not just for a few minutes, but for a steady time. Each time I was told you are the best but that is not what we want, I became resentful. It wasn’t until the time that I giggled at losing that I started to truly feel that He knew what was best for me. I am very grateful that I was not chosen that time.
The world is full of intricate stupidity and ignorance of what Truth is. We are strategically placed by Him to spread the Word though the path we are on is not what WE expected. The way we accept His guidance and the way we follow His lead, is how we show the world what Truth is.
There are plenty of things in this world that I am still aggravated with. There are plenty of things that He is still drilling into my stubborn skull. But watching how my own dad accepted his fate … peacefully going home and how now, my father-in-law is fighting to the end … though it pains me to see him struggle, he is showing us that the fight is worth fighting. He is setting the example of freedom from the world. That, my friends, is inspiring.
Today I encourage you to set with Him who created you and just listen to His heartbeat. Snuggle into His chest and listen to the rhythm of his heart for your path.
Be blessed today my friends.
***I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them. I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon he will send down his roots; his young shoots will grow. His splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon. –Hosea 14:4-6
