Jhn 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
The word "right" in verse 12 says a lot! Think about this! When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, God the Father gives us the"RIGHT" to become the children of God!
The Greek word for "right" is exousia (ex-oo-see'-ah). It means: exousia
Thayer Definition:
1) power of choice, liberty of doing as one pleases
1a) leave or permission
2) physical and mental power
2a) the ability or strength with which one is endued, which he either possesses or exercises
3) the power of authority (influence) and of right (privilege)
So as Christians we must need to always remember not to take the grace we have been given for granted, but ALWAYS remember what our right to become children of God cost!!! We need to always remember it is a PRIVILEGE to have salvation! We are not to think that we are entitled to it. Or salvation came at a very high cost: THE DEATH OF JESUS IN OUR PLACE!
