Jonah's Prayer
Jonah 2:1-6 GNB Rainbow From deep inside the fish Jonah prayed to the LORD his God.
"In my distress, O LORD, I called to you, and you answered me. From deep in the world of the dead I cried for help, and you heard me.
You threw me down into the depths, to the very bottom of the sea, where the waters were all around me, and all your mighty waves rolled over me.
I thought I had been banished from your presence and would never see your holy Temple again.
The water came over me and chocked me; the sea covered me completely, and seaweed was wrapped round my head.
I went down to the very roots of the mountains, into the land whose gates lock shut for ever. But you, O LORD my God, brought me back from the depths alive.

"I was in danger. So I called to the Lord, and he answered me. I was about to die. So I cried to you, and you heard my voice.
You threw me into the sea. I went down, down into the deep sea. The water was all around me. Your powerful waves flowed over me.
I said, 'I was driven out of your presence. but I hope to see your Holy Temple again.'
The waters of the sea closed over me. I was about to die. The deep sea was all around me. Seaweed wrapped around my head.
I went down to where the mountains of the sea start to rise. I thought I was locked in this prison forever. But you saved me from death, Lord my God.

Jonah 2:1-6 CEB Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish.
"I called out to the LORD in my distress, and he answered me. From the belly of the underworld I cried out for help; you have heard my voice.
You had cast me into the depths in the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounds me. All your strong waves and rushing water passed over me.
So I said, 'I have been driven away from your sight. Will I ever again look on your holy temple?
Waters have grasped me to the point of death; the deep surrounds me. Seaweed is wrapped around my head
at the base of the undersea mountains. I have sunk down to the underworld; its bars held me with no end in sight. But you brought me out of the pit.'
