Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Yesterday was a rough day. Very poor sleep the night before. Early morning duties right off the bat. Disputes with no results with credit card companies and banks. By 10 am I was in my recliner contemplating where to build my fort and look for the W’s in my M & M’s. Though pillows and blankets were not involved, my big behind did not move from my chair except for necessity. I left my phone on my desk on silent. I sat and binge watched a cooking competition show all day. I almost took a nap.
By 9 pm, I was done and went to bed. Though I could hear the Tractor Pull event going on at the fairgrounds almost a mile away from my house, my body was ready for complete cozy in my bed and it did not take long for me to be in gone.
In an attempt to disturb my wonderful beauty rest, I did wake up a couple of times, just because I could, but once I looked at the clock and noticed that it was not time for me to get up … not even close … I easily slipped back into comfy zone and was out.
Our bodies will tell us what it needs and what it wants. If we don’t listen, it will throw a tantrum until it is satisfied. I don’t ever think about ‘how’ much there is going on, I just do what needs to be done. One step at a time. My body decided that it was time for a timeout day. So it took it. When we do not listen to signs of our body giving hints, it will take matters into its own hands.
Such is the same with our journey with God. He will guide and drop hints on the direction that we need to go. When we continuously ignore him, he will block every avenue, close every door, barricade all but the path that we must walk. Best example is Jonah.
Because the world has set this expectation that everything should be easy and fast to attain, when it is not…we throw the tantrum. However, I find myself thinking a lot about the days of old. How did those people ever survive? How did they manage? What was their secret power? Honestly, I think it was they ‘had’ to work for everything. When you work for something, the reward is so much more satisfying. Yes, easy is nice, but too much easy and you begin to feel like “IT” should be handed to you.
For me, my walk is not over the top challenging. Not that I am asking for more, but I just take one step at a time. I conquer one obstacle at a time. I do my due diligence to NOT look too far into the future and rarely do I look at the past. I try very hard to live only in the present. When I get out of balance, my body does a reset, like yesterday.
Today I feel rested and refreshed. I feel like I can manage whatever comes my way with confidence.
How many things have you allowed to consume your thoughts? How many projects have you got going thinking that they all need to be done NOW? How thin have you stretched yourself? Now the difficult question… How many of those things are God led and how many are YOU led? (yeah that one hurts a little).
I encourage you to take a few moments with God and edit your activities. See which ones are from Him, and which ones are not. Take a few moments to prioritize and then…take a few moments to reset and rest.
Be blessed today my friends.
***Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:6-7
