*DEVOTIONAL COMPANION*
*SINGING THE LORD’S SONG IN A STRANGE LAND*
Psalm 137:4 (KJV)...... *.How shall we sing The LORD's song in a strange land?*
The psalmist is asking a very important question in our theme scripture. David is asking a question we see being displayed in the Church of Jesus Christ. The question he is asking is likened to the case of a man under the New Testament who still wants to live according to the Old Testament in a New Testament dispensation.
You can’t and shouldn’t put a new wine in an old wineskin because it will burst.
Romans 6:16 (KJV)....... *Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?*
The believer in Christ is no longer under the law but under grace. You have yielded yourself to Christ, and you shouldn’t be found yielding to another. We shouldn’t sing songs of bondage in this new land of freedom and liberty.
Don’t sing songs bringing us into his presence, but sing songs welcoming the Spirit among us today. Hallelujah.
Prayer:
Oh Father, I thank you for revealing yourself to me. I have learnt how to walk in you and move in you. And the song of my mouth have changed because of my union with Christ. Amen.
Bible Reference: Romans 8:1-20 (AMP).
