*DEVOTIONAL COMPANION*

*THIS IS SERIOUS* .

2 Thessalonians 3:9-10 (AMPC)...... *[It was] not because we do not have a right [to such support], but [we wished] to make ourselves an example for you to follow.*

[10] *For while we were yet with you, we gave you this rule and charge: If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.*

Christianity has never encouraged laziness. The God of the Bible has never advocated for his people to be lazy and do nothing. In fact, after he was done creating man, he gave man work to do. This act defines your responsibilities and defines you as a creature of good work.

So, to wake up with nothing and be expecting MANNA from heaven is a lifestyle of a lazy man, and this will only tend to poverty. One of the beauties of Christianity when it started many years ago was that it not only encouraged people to work, but it also provided jobs for people. But the Christianity that many are painting today is a different and a sad one.

We have people who want God to perform a miracle without them doing anything. It is sad to say this kind of thinking is now in the church. We have young and vibrant people who don’t want to work but want to drive a good car and dress well and also live in a good house at the expense of someone else’s labour.

There are those who want to date or marry a rich lady just so that they can escape these responsibilities. This matter is serious; don’t make people doubt our God and reject Christianity because of your lifestyle. The instruction is plain: if a man will not work, he shouldn’t eat. Selah.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for your word and the responsibility that it reveals to my spirit through the workings of your Spirit. I yield my hands to you and my mind that you help direct my path to something worth doing to the praise and glory of your name. Amen.

Wisdom Capsule:
Proverbs 11:16 (MSG)..... *A woman of gentle grace gets respect, but men of rough violence grab for loot.*
