Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
What a wild day yesterday was. Let’s start off with the programs that are required for me to do my job were not allowing me access. Add to that one program I had access to at 8 am but by 11 I did not … it wasn’t an important one … just time keeping … who wants paid anyway right? Flash forward … went to Walmart to see if they could fix my glasses … my situation became the talk of the town. No one had ever seen this problem before. The guide wire that runs across the bottom of the lens to hold it in place sliced through the lens. It is literally cutting the lens in half. So now I wait 7-10 days for my new pair. (the new pair have regular bottoms – not wire)
Several thoughts come to mind with my latest adventure. Several comparisons to our walk. Today, I am going to focus on the wire that sliced through the lens.
Some time ago, I noticed that there was an issue. I just thought it was because they were older, and the transitioning tint was failing. It was not a big concern. I figured at some point I would have to surrender to a new pair of glasses. The problem started with like a small crack in the lens that really was not a crack. I knew that I had not dropped them or dropped anything on them, so it had to be the tinting. I watched as it encroached upward, but still thought it was the tint. Inspecting the area several times a day still did not allow me to catch that it was the wire. I did not think that the wire would have that much power or strength and or that the lenses would permit it. I assumed that the lenses, since they cost a small fortune, were made to withstand the pressure of the wire. Obviously, I was incorrect.
In this small description, how many comparisons to you see?
Sin starts the same way as the issue with my glasses. It seems small and insignificant. Something that you can manage. As time goes by, it maneuvers its way more and more into your space and line of sight. Still maintaining that you can work with it. It is no big deal. You will take care of it later. THEN, one day, you cannot see anything … only the sin. It is at that point that you must seek the Great Physician/Ophthalmologist and have your vision restored. The best part of our Great Physician is that you do not have to wait 7-10 days to get your new eyes … He will provide you with new sight immediately. You just have to be willing to accept the new view.
Like most things in life that are troublesome, they start small and manageable. On our own, without God. We were made to be strong and powerful after all and He has enough on his plate, we do not need to bother him with this. Unfortunately, that is not the case. We do need Him. We do need His guidance. We do need His strength. We cannot battle the evil one without Him. When we do attempt this … we end up with dark, cloudy vision.
Take a moment today and inspect your glasses. Do you have a speck of cloudiness on them? Is there a twitch in your eye muscle that wont go away? Do you think that ‘that little’ thing is okay but get a weird feeling every time you do it? What small habit have you picked up that seems harmless has now grown exponentially? For the negative. Today inspect your glasses and vision and have a talk with our Father. Ask him to enlighten you to the dark area that has taken over your life. Reach out to Him and ask him to guide you back to the lit path of His mercy and grace. It might be bumpy and annoying … but it is well worth the effort and the steps.
Be blessed today my friends.
***This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. – 1 John 1:5-6
