YOU CAN KNOW THE SCRIPTURES JUST AS HE KNEW THE SCRIPTURES
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself - Luke 24:27
The Lord Jesus Christ is our example. He came not only to die for our sins, but also to show us how someone with eternal life must live in this world. As a result, we must imitate Him since the Father declared that He was His beloved Son in whom He was well-pleased. One of the things that pleased the Father about the Lord Jesus Christ is that He knew the scriptures. In fact, when He was still twelve years old, the Lord Jesus Christ’s knowledge and understanding of the scriptures confounded experienced scribes and teachers of the law. That means the Lord started studying the scriptures at an early age. Later on, during His earthly ministry, the Lord Jesus Christ could explain in detail all the prophecies about Himself from the books of Moses and the writings of the prophets.
John 7:15 says, ‘And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?’ In fact, so knowledgeable was the Lord about the scriptures that the Pharisees, scribes, and teachers of the law were shocked since He didn’t study under them. This is the call of every disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have to spend time in God’s word and gain the necessary knowledge, wisdom, and understanding for us to face the challenges of this life. When Satan tempted the Lord Jesus Christ, His response was not just to rebuke him. The Lord went to the scriptures to put Satan under His feet. Matthew 4:3-4 says, ‘And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.’ The Lord Jesus Christ responded with, ‘It is written.’ As a result, the devil stood no chance against Him. That’s the power of knowing God’s word.
In this world, like the Lord Jesus Christ, we’ll face tribulation. We will face trials, tests, and temptations. However, for us to emerge victorious each time like the Lord Jesus Christ, we have to know the word of God for ourselves. 1 John 5:4 says, ‘For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.’ Like the Lord Jesus Christ, we are born of God, and like Him, we’re called to live a life of victory, success, and progress in this world. By copying His example of faith, whatever this world can throw at us is no match for us. The word of God gives us the tools to overthrow and conquer this world just as He did. We’re not called to live in defeat and victimhood; we’re called to live the very life of Christ in this world. It’s time to ascend through the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God’s word. It’s time to walk this world with the boldness of the Lord Jesus Christ and put it under our feet. Glory to God!
CONFESSION
Like the Lord Jesus Christ, I dedicate time to knowing the word of God for myself. Like Him, I walk in the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God’s word. Glory to God!
