I am so happy to know that Jerry Lee Lewis met his Lord and Savior today.
Jerry grew up in church and even went to Bible college, but did not make a decision to accept Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior until he was 83 in 2019.
Jerry told ‘The Guardian’ in 2015, “I was always worried whether I was going to Heaven or Hell. I still am. I worry about it before I go to bed; it’s a very serious situation. I mean you worry, when you breathe your last breath, where are you going to go?”
I was able to meet Mr. Lewis after his last concert in South Carolina in 2019.
As he was looking at his gift he pulled out a tract that said, “How To Make Sure You’re Going To Heaven.” He got really excited and said to his wife, “He knew exactly what I needed!”
We had a wonderful conversation about salvation.
I told him, “You don’t have to be in a church to get saved. You could saved here in this airport terminal.”
He told me, “I wish we could talk more about this, but I’m worried I’m going to miss my flight.” I showed him that my contact information was at the back of the material that I had given him.
A week later, I got a letter in the mail from Mr. Lewis where he wrote me a small note dated 2 days after I met him: “Do not worry, Jesus is my personal Savior. - Jerry Lee Lewis”
After getting saved, Jerry went on to plan a Gospel album that ended up being delayed due to a stroke.
His wife, Judith, reported that one of his last words was, “I’m ready to be with Jesus.”
The world may have lost one of its greatest entertainers and musicians, but Heaven gained a precious soul.
Please be praying for his wife, friends, and family during this difficult time.
