Read: Romans 8:3-4
We don't need a law to tell us what to do when the Spirit lives in us. Just like loving parents don't need a law to tell them not to kill their kids.
Jesus said in John 14:15, if you love Me keep My commandments.
The Spirit gives people the kind of character that God wants, which is much more than what the law requires (cf. Gal. 5:22-23). The law can teach us what God wants and show us what is wrong, but it can't make us less sinful, or give us the power to live in God's will or save us. On the other hand, the Holy Spirit can cleanse, change, empower, and inspire us in ways that the law can't (Romans 8:1-4; 2
Corinthians 3:17-18). It is from the love we have for God as a response to our salvation through Jesus, that we keep His commandments.
Let's thank God for giving us His Spirit, who is a loving and powerful part of Him, who by His wonderful love gives us the ability to obey His law.
Prayer
God, give me a pure heart and make me new by letting Your Spirit live inside me, and help me to show my love for you, by keepingyour commandments. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
